new thickening tissue

I had ILC in one breast, got BMX (2012) with delayed DIEP (2014) reconstruction. When I had the mammogram back in 2012 & they called me back due to suspicious area, I said "left breast, correct?"...and It was. The reason I guess left breast is because I had recently noticed if the left breast was moved, I felt a "pulling sensation" toward my armpit. They told me there was no way I would feel anything from the cancer - especially since it was only 1mm which made sense to me.

However, I noticed the other week when scratching the area next to the breast & near the armpit, that I had the same pulling sensation. Luckily it was time for my annual appointment w/ BS today. He could actually see thickening in armpit/breast area. He knew I was going to see my PS in two weeks & said to see what PS thinks....that it was probably just a suture or something. Well of course I am freaking out because I know ILC can cause thickening. I don't want to wait two weeks. I hate this!

Could the ILC areas be several inches from each other? Example: the place where my 1mm ILC area was in the breast is maybe 2 inches from where this "new" thickening area is located. So maybe it was always there but it's getting bigger? I don't even know if I'm making sense. This is freaking me out.

Lisa, good you added to your original post because now your history & statistics show up!

I am a little confused by your description but just wanted to say that I have an area of fat necrosis (dead tissue) from my DIEP, under the arm/along the chest which has been stable for almost 4 years. That would be something for your plastic surgeon to assess. Maybe an ultrasound would be an inexpensive way to get a good look at things.

Another thought regarding the visible thickening could involve truncal lymphedema. I also have that and feel slightly swollen unless I wear a compression shirt or "shapewear".

Take some deep breaths: helps move stagnant fluid, if that's part of the problem. Call the clinic and see whether they can get you in sooner than 2 weeks. I hate waiting when I have a concern that needs evaluation. Let us know how it turns out.

PS felt the area very quickly & said "scar tissue don't worry about it". Meanwhile, BS had already ordered U/S (at my request I wanted U/S done so I could bring to PS but they couldn't do the U/S in time). Anyway the U/S was inconclusive. BS did biopsy one week ago. I get results tomorrow afternoon. I think it's only a 2 to 4 percent chance that it's cancerous in the scar tissue but of course I just want to know for sure..sick of waiting

Yay!  For the record, my oncologist told me I need to be paranoid the next few years. If in doubt, check it out!  I can and will save your life.
