where can I hire one accompany me during surgery

I decided to hire a driver drive me home. And after reading the posts from others, I also want to hire a person accompany me during surgery. I think, as some ladies suggested, it is better there is someone help me listen to Drs. and write down for me in case I may be drowsy. Please recommend any agency you used or heard.     The American Cancer Society has a Road to Recovery Program. I did not use it but understand it is a great program.

    I wish you were in my area because I would love to help someone like you who needs a second set of ears, takes notes, organizes info, etc.

    I believe from what you've written elsewhere that you are in NY. Is that correct. Perhaps we can help connect you with some services in your area if we had more info.

    Dear Diana, thank you so much for the info.! I will call ACS to seek any possibility.

    Yes, I am in NYC and probably will do surgery in NYU, on coming Monday, Apr. 20. I was already thinking of looking for help from some service after I talked with the surgeon form NYU yesterday. If you guys used or knew some service agency, please let me know. Also I am searching one right now.

    willbefine, the cancer center I go to has these wonderful volunteer drivers. One of them told me that she goes in to the appointments with the patient if they want her there, to provide whatever support she can. I've used their services a couple of times, and they were both older citizens, who had both had brushes with cancer in their lives (who hasn't, actually?).

    We're on the West Coast, so they can't help you, but I urge you to contact your hospital's social worker. She (or he) can hook you up with someone to help get you through this. Call right away, and let us know what they say.

    I am thinking maybe I don't need an accompany during the surgery. Just a driver waiting outside building maybe ok. becuase I am a person with strong will

    another reason is Dr. told me I just need local anesthesia + IV sedation, so I guess probably I wake up quickly with clear mind. So no one accompany will be ok.

    You will be given written instructions as to what to expect, how to care for your incision, when you can shower, and all the rest.

    Keep trying to find a person till tomorrow. If there is no one there, I will face it by myself

    A friend will accompany me for this procedure, and auto and driver are booked. Everything will be fine! Best wishes to me and you all!

    I stored lots of food today and will continue tomorrow
