I have. I had radiation on my left breast/shoulder just over three years ago, and when I want to have a sun-kissed look I use a self-tanner. When I'm hiking I use a 60+ SPF for protection, plus a little extra on the radiated skin as it is much more prone to burning.

I use the self tanners also to add a glow. I did go to the beach for a walk yesterday, and got a little sun but no burn. I had the rads area covered. And it was so nice to sit at the beach topless, no wig!!

I have talked to many people about tanning. And the opinions are all over the place. My chemo nurse who tans laughed because she knows I am going to get a tan anyway, and I got the old "do as I say not as I do"! She also told me that she enjoys the job security. To each their own, we all know the risk. But I will tan, not sure how many summers I have :)

Spray tan if you must. I can tell you from experience that melanoma is about as fun as breast cancer...

Love self tanners. I used them through chemo and rads. St Tropez and Clinque are the best. Also get a tanner application mitt to get it on evenly.

In the summer, I go without protection for about 10-20 minutes per day, then slather on the SPF 60+. I get my daily Vitamin D that way, as well as adequate protection against too much sun. In the winter/dark months, I switch to a Vitamin D supplement.
