What I didn't understand from reading the article about Rita Wilson was that she stated that she had an area of LCIS that she had been monitoring with mammograms and MRIs for quite some time. I understand LC is slow growing, but LCIS is still cancer -- why would you just monitor it? Think she waited until it was invasive before she took action?

It's all so damned confusing, but I'd just like to know how she found out she had the LCIS to monitor in the first place?

Hi my Feb 2012 surgery sister (waving). My ALH and ADH was found coincidentally when I had an excisional biopsy for bloody discharge. I think these are incidental findings in a lot of cases.

LCIS is almost always an incidental finding on a biopsy. It is not considered cancer like DCIS or treated like DCIS is. More of a high risk marker
