Dancing with the Stars

Saw only the very beginning. Baking for church function. Was there an elimination tonight? Not asking for details to spare our westcoasters. Thanks
-
Yes , one contestant was eliminated.
-
Yes, I was pleased too. Everyone had improved over the week before.
Agree that Rumer & Nastia's performances were very well done, as expected. Divine, we must have the same taste in guys because I loved, loved Riker!!! Also thought that Kim & Robert's dance was very sweet. I liked the paint thing going on with Willow, who danced very maturely for her age. And Suzanne Somers, holy cow!! I felt like her age was absolutely immaterial. I want her legs when I grow up! Noah & Patty, surprisingly smoothly done by both.
So far, so good.Glad that my negative thoughts toward this season are being proved wrong!
-
Thanks Divine. Now I will go Google some. Not sure I even know 1/2 of the contestants; didn't pay much attention last week either.
-
I'm going to have to rewind the DVR, I fell asleep and napped through about 40 minutes of the show, but I did see Patty, Riker and Rumer and loved them
-
On a related note, I just got Amy Purdy's new autobiography from the library. It's called "On My Own Two Feet: from Losing my legs to Learning the Dance of Life". I was looking at all the photos she includes in the book and tears were streaming down my face. She is my inspiration
-
I will have to check out the book!
My critique for tonight:
Rumer & Nastia- both very good again as expected.....maybe too good, I saw the technique but maybe not the passion or fun.
Willow & Noah-both did well and very much benefited from great choreography by their partners.
Suzanne & Patti-dances were so/so, but they are both GREAT performers!! FUN to watch because they are having fun.
Charlotte didn't try hard enough & Michael tried too hard.
Chris looked a lot better this week.
Robert-so/so moves but they danced well as a couple.
Riker-still liked him best, he had the technique and the 'pop' as well.
-
Yikes, I see I am the only one who commented last week. Hopefully I am not the only one still watching!
I still don't like the someone's fate is decided even before they dance thing but am sure liking the dancers & dancing (much to my suprise!).
I really enjoyed the 'most memorable year" show tonight....lots of great stories (and sniffles from me).
* high marks from me to Sharna and Mark who are doing tremendous jobs with their choreography this season! Plus, Willow really is an amazingly good dancer.
* Patti & Suzanne sure can move, although I think the age thing will catch up with them before the end. Why does Erin always say 'Miss Patti?' That bugs me.
*Nastia is technically excellent, but I think Len nailed it when he said she didn't have the passion. In Rumer, I see excellence and passion both.
* I was very touched by Robert's story about his mom & thought he did a very nice dance. I don't know what will happy when he gets to something that is more technical.
* I still like Rikor best of the guys, puts in all the little extra moves & footwork.
I have been happy with the voting results thus far too......
-
Oh! Thought I'd posted last week. Still watching!
Amy's book was so good; heart-rending at times to read. She had a Toyota Camry commercial in last night's show. Found out Derek also has a book out, waiting to get that from the library.
Erin...I mute her chit chat with contestants. My husband just laughs when I do. I still don't get the reasoning behind 4 judges. Really, Carrie Ann and Julianne seem to say similar things and their voices even sound alike at times. Len seemed a bit grumpier than usual for the evening.
Yes, the 'most memorable year' theme was good. I liked Willow's dance best, to my surprise. I never saw Hunger Games.
Patti LaBelle is my favorite "older" DWTS celebrity dancer of all time. She is so entertaining. I love how Artem and Tony are both so caring towards their more mature partners. I know Suzanne paid homage to her 3s Company character 'Chrissy' last night, but I hope she chooses to do more with her hair from now on; it's time to retire the shaggy look.
Riker & Allison were too RED. They needed more contrasting costume colors for interest. I agree that Nastia has all the technical moves but seems lacking the passion element. Everyone else seemed okay, nothing too spectacular. I think the ones that can really do well sort of hold back a bit while the ones without talent make enough mistakes to get voted off. Then the better dancers start to bring it.
The elimination was no surprise. I heard that Tom Bergeron knows who's being eliminated before it happens. I swear I saw him give a little nod to the professional dancer who was going to be booted just before they ran up the stairs for their scores, like giving a clue about what to expect. Overall, a good show for the evening.
-
I'm still here too, it's usually late and I'm tired and it takes all my wherewithall to vote before I head to bed I did like this weeks show too, Willow was terrific and I'm really liking Rumer, loved Robert and his story brought a tear to my eye, also did you hear what Tony said when they were doing their 'packet' he said something along the line of 'they (meaning the judges) don't like me" and I think they are grooming us for when Len leaves and then there will be three
-
One more comment about Suzanne. Besides giving her that dorky hairdo, why on earth did the costume designers put her in a costume that hid her gorgeous legs and showed off her rather poufy tummy?
-
Good point, Ruth. I think "Chrissy Snow" would have aged more gracefully than the costume designers interpreted it.
I am reading Derek Hough's book now. "Taking the Lead: Lessons from a Life in Motion." I am shocked at how interesting it is. I am reading it slow because I don't want it to end! His life is really fascinating. He is an amazing talent, but that's not saying anything we don't already know
-
One: Mary Poppins is one of the best movies ever made. So I didn't care for Kym showing all the cleavage, didn't seem appropriate. She should have dressed as a woman chimney sweep. I really like them both but sad to say her & Robert's dance was disastrous.
Suzanne looked much better glammed up, but very poor dancing.
Still lovin me some Patti LaBelle.
Found Nastia ho-hum. Not a fan of Mark's rabbit get-up or his and Willow's routine. Rumor was okay to watch but I wasn't thrilled; didn't care for the costume. The bachelor wasn't bad.
I really liked Noah and Sharna's dance; they have a certain kind of chemistry that is appealing.
Julianne looked fabulous, pink hair and all; loved her dress.
Two: Pirates of the Caribbean music is the best! Riker as Jack Sparrow is the best! Riker & Allison's dance was the best! -
* Tonight I was impressed by how sweet Tony, Artem, and Sharna were with their partners who were struggling this week.
* I impressed with Patti as a real trooper, master performer & beautiful person.
* I didn't think Robert was very good, but I didn't think he was as bad as the judges made him out to be.
* I think Chris is ready to be done & is still on because he was so popular on The Bachelor. A lot of carry-over viewers from that to this show.
* I'd say the top 4 real contenders are Willow, Riker, Rumer, and Nastia. I still don't get an emotional lift from Nastia. Loved both Riker & Rumors dances.
-
Didn't see but bits and pieces but almost choked when Julianne nearly killed herself pulling out those mickey eared paddles lol.
-
I wasn't a big fan of the inclusion of the animation. Too gimmickey for my taste. A bit hokey.
-
True, I find the simple backgrounds and more pure dance to be the most interesting...but I suppose that 'Disney' and 'hokey' kind of go together.....
My predication is that Chris will be the next to go.
-
I think that's a good prediction, tho I worry about poor Robert, too
-
I liked Willow, Rumer and Riker and of course Miss Patti. i did give Robert a vote I know what it's like to get off on the wrong foot, there was one very clever animation it was the Toy Story one and if you looked the dancers and rhe animation were in perfect unison very cute. agree its time for Chris to go
-
One thing that makes me happy is the season has turned out to be entertaining! A nice surprise.
-
I am very pleased too. A time I am glad to be proved wrong!
-
Another fun night; surprised at who was eliminated. Interesting that the songs are assigned to them, glad that Riker's partner asked for a different one, as I really didn't like Rumer's overly sexual one at all. I thought that Chris did much better than he ever had before. Nastia was very good but I still don't feel connected to her, loved Willow and Riker. I really enjoyed both group dances.
-
Ruth I agree I was so glad Allison was able to get another song assigned. Sad to see Miss Patty go and yes Chris did so much better tonight. i really liked the group dances too and Riker was my favourite tonight and guess what I didn't give give Derek and Nastia a vote at all I just don't feel a connection and I wonder if it's the fact that he's on Broadway and travelling that they're not getting the rehearsal time they need.
-
I thought all the dances were average. It surprised me that Riker got a couple 10s. He was good but lacked finesse. I want to see him become more refined, I hope his partner is up to the task, he's great to watch.
Nastia's gown was exquisite, the dance was okay. Rumor's dance also seemed to lack finesse along with Willow. I'm not a fan of Chris and Robert is starting to look really bad. Noah is going to start to run into difficulty now that competition is heating up. I just really loved watching Patti, she really brings it.
I thought Julianne looked gorgeous. Erin Andrews seemed okay even tho her boyfriend was busted Friday for possession of heroin and ecstacy.
-
This was the first time i thought Rumor looked like Demi. She really looked like her. Or I'm just not good at faces.... LOL the dance was a bit much.
-
Did anyone else see this about Derek Hough being injured? I just picked one of many links out there.
http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/dancing-stars-...
Ms Divine - missed the news about Erin Andrews boyfriend. Now I know why she was a Yahoo trending story.
-
Youch! I imagine one of the other eliminated pros would have to take his place if he can't dance ????
Even though I don't like Erin, I do feel sorry for her about the boyfriend...hopefully EX-boyfriend by now!
-
Oh wow. Derek likes to burn the candle at both ends, how will he handled being hobbled and unable to perform? It would be interesting if Tony or even Artem took over. Or how about Keo? He's had a couple not so great partners, be nice for him to have a change of pace.
Things stay interesting, don't they?
-
Yes, it may end up being a 'skip a meeting to watch it live' season after all!
-
http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2015/04/22/de...
"While it remains unclear at this time if Derek will be able to perform on the Monday, April 27 episode of 'Dancing with the Stars,' his partner Nastia Liukin will train in Los Angeles this week with pro-dancer Sasha Farber to prepare for the live show," his rep added.
