hi Francoise, I'm sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Yes, this waiting will make you crazy. Try to keep occupied in the meantime...clean out closets, organize stuff, anything that will keep your mind off the wait. Weekends are somewhat slow, but I'm sure someone from your area will chime in on their experiences with surgeons and oncologists. In the meantime you can use the search page. Try typing in local hospital names and seeing what threads come up. There might even be a thread for NYC as many members have started groups for their particular metropolitan area.

im not diagnosed I'm waiting on a biopsy result but I live in Manhattan, and am a nursing student. Are you in NYC? I see a Breast surgeon at St Luke's but haven't had any surgery with her, I know New York Presbyterian and my awesome women's health doctor who referred me with breast lump is affiliated there, she told me their Breast clinic is great there and tried to get me in there initially but they don't take my insurance. I have previously been a patient at that hospital and my son gets all of all of his healthcare needs through New York Presbyetrian, he has autism and they are awesome with him. I have seen a plastic surgeon there after I got an infection after a breast surgery I had done in the UK, they really seemed to know their stuff and were attentive (plastics is all I can speak for though) I think it's a a great hospital. I would ask if anyone here has had treatment at New York Presbyterian.

Hi Francoise, welcome to Breastcancer.org. We're sorry for what brings you here, but glad you found this wonderful community!

We're afraid we can't help you find a surgeon in New York, but we recommend you to read through the articles of the section Breast Cancer 101, that will help you sort through all of the information on our main site to find what is more relevant to you right now, like the individual characteristics of the cancer, treatments that are recommended for you, and more.

    Hope this helps!
