Resecton After Lumpectomy

I had a lumpectomy and SNB on the 2nd of April. At my post-op appointment, my surgeon informed me they did not clear margins when removing the tumor. I am scheduled to go in for a resection on April 22. I am wondering what I can expect after the surgery... Is it similar to the lumpectomy, as far as recovery, or will it be worse the 2nd time around?

Yes, it is. I had one too. It is pretty common. Sigh!

My resection was much easier than the first lumpectomy. It only elongated the original scar just a minute bit. No SND or drains the second time, yeah! I was home by the afternoon. I don't have an issue with anesthesia, so it was a very uneventful surgery.

Wishing you the same...an uneventful surgery with clear margins.

Thanks ladies! I was hoping it wouldn't be too bad. I only have 3 days to heal and I'll have to go back to work. I guess I'll see how I feel. It's kind of hard for me to judge because of the SNB the first time around.

It should feel better than the first time with the SNB. I think you will be okay in 3 days.
