I was diagnosed with breast cancer march 17th was told 2 lymph nodes looked suspicious in ultrasound but nonspecific both my surgeon and oncologist felt I was in stage 1 I had an mri the lymph nodes could not be seen and were inconclusive due to me being her2 positive my surgeon ordered a pet scan the results were all good until the liver there was a small focal spot of nonspecific uptake in my liver no lesions seen on the ct scan and the radiologist said it should be closely followed I'm just so frustrated because either I have no lymph nodes involved and in stage 1 which would be great or I'm stage 4 my surgeon called the next morning after reviewing with the tumor board and assured me she doesn't think it's anything serious she says I'm still at stage 1 and sometimes in younger people you can see the liver light up and she's happy with the pet scan results but I just can't shake this scary feeling that it could be bad has anybody ever had any type of issues like this with pet scan results? Sorry for the long post :(

Steph, how stressful this has been for you. I am glad your team feels like it the tests are in your favor, and I am sure it is hard to shake that worry. I have not been thru this myself, but I am bumping your question to the top of the active threads so hopefully someone will respond soon. She says you are stage one! that is good news in a bucket full of bad news! Hugs to you

Steph, your situation was similar to what I went through two years ago. I was also Her2+ and an MRI showed involvement in one lymph node and a possible lesion on my rib. I was terrified. They too sent me in for a PET scan, but it was inconclusive. When the images were brought to the tumor board they didn't think it was a bone met, but it couldn't be ruled out until after chemo was done. That was a very long wait for me. If the "lesion" was gone after chemo, it wasn't good news.

I had a 100% response to the chemo and the MRI scans in the following years showed the "lesion" to be grossly unchanged. They don't know what it is, but my oncologist assured me there are many odd things like that throughout the human body that cannot be explained.

I guess what I'm trying to say...it's not uncommon to see oddities in scans :)

thank you for the response :) I am trying to stay positive then I slip and start googling on my phone..because my drs think it's good so should I they have much more experience with this than I do! I just hate the uncertainty of cancer I guess that's how it goes with this disease you just never know.. Anxious to hear what my oncologist has to say about it she's been on vacation comes back next week
