edited April 2015 in Waiting for Test Results

Had needle guided biopsies of my breast and axillary lymph nodes last Tuesday. Developed a breast infection and now on day 5 of intravenous antibiotics. At least the nurse is coming to my home starting today, so I don't have to spend 4 hours in ER again today. My doctor's office called and they have the results, but she can't see me until Friday afternoon and won't discuss the results on the phone. I am so sick and unhappy. My husband died a year and a half ago so I'm kind of on my own dealing with this. I've told my daughter and a sister, but they just tell me not to think about it!

    Gina4h,

I'm so sorry you have to deal with this on your own but I'm so glad you found this board. The waiting game is agonizing but rest assured that all will be revealed soon. I pray that your results are b9!

Gina, this really is unfair. I got my results 24 hours after biopsy, my personal Dr. Had me come in during her lunch break. Not sure if that is common, I knew her for 10 years as a tennis teammate, before she became my Dr.

My guess is they don't want to rush you in & out in a few minutes. My appt. Was very quick, she handed me a sticky note with the name of the surgeon and a appt. In 2 days to meet with him.

If your results are Cancer, ( hopefully not ) but if, they do not know the whole story until they get in there and remove it. I did not have a MRI done, before or after surgery. My situation was much worse after surgery.

Many ladies are dx in situ or no lymph node involvement. Many ladies do not need/get chemo. Wish this was easier, waiting is the worse part. Keep busy, and do whatever helps you to relax

Hi Gna4H, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your Husband. Yeah sure, just don't think about it...ok! How easy it is, for people who have never felt this fear, to minimize and offer useless advice. I know they don't mean anything by it, but it stings, doesn't it?

We all understand how brutal the waiting is, I had 11 long days, from Biopsy to Dx.

I too, hope you get a benign result. Some Doctors, refuse to give any info over the phone, good or bad! I'd like to slap them for that! LOL

Try to keep yourself busy doing things you enjoy, while you wait. Stick around here and let us know how you're getting on.

    Hi Gina,

It is very frustrating that some Doc's will not release results over the phone. I personally think having the results before your next scheduled appointment gives the patient time to gain an understanding of their results so they might better be prepared to ask appropriate questions for planning future care.

I too am waiting for test results from my biopsy monday the 6th. The office stated I would get results at my post-op appointment the16th. I told the office manager I felt 10 days is to long a time frame to be anxiously waiting, she then said the doctor will notify me with the results. As of today nothing, I plan on calling again Monday to see if they are available. For what its worth I have found little relationship to a diagnosis and timing of the results. My prayers are for both our results to be B9.

    Hi Gina,

Just passing by to give you some support. Sometimes all we can do is take it a day at a time, and when that is too hard, one hour at a time or even a minute at a time. Xanax helps meanwhile, best be with chemicals than in pieces.

Hoping for the best results possible for you.

    Best,
    Alicki

Dear Gina4h, sorry you are having to deal with this terrible waiting and situation basically alone. It is not easy, as everyone here acknowledges. At least tomorrow you'll know the results. Keep us informed, hopefully with good news.

Hello Gina, I just read your post and I am so sorry you are alone. Losing your husband last year has to be hard on you. Today is Friday and if I read correctly you might be finding out your results as I type this. First, I hope the news is good, secondly I hope you have someone to be there with you, good or bad. Let us know what you learn. We are thinking about you and many wonderful women here if you need them. I am so new to this I don't feel I have much to offer yet. I can be a friend to talk to if you ever need that.
