Waiting for Biopsy and Scared

Hi BC Community,

I found a lump in my left breast last week while on vacation for my 30th bday. Once we returned, I made an appointment with my doctor, who recommended an ultrasound. I completed the ultrasound today and after it was completed, the tech brought in the radiologist to speak with me. I immediately knew that something was concerning bc she invited him into the room.

My hope is that it's a fibroademoma, but the doctor is concerned about the shape and size (5 cm). I did a self breast exam last months and felt nothing. My biopsy is scheduled for Thursday, but I'm pretty scared. My mom passed away from breast cancer 10 years ago (premenopausal when diagnosed).

Any words of advice or encouragement are appreciated. Glad that this community is here.

Best,

Katie

Welcome to BCO Kuddlykatie, we're glad you found this caring community with lots of caring and experience.

Your age is on your side for it not being a serious problem, we certainly hope it is something simple but only the biopsy test results will confirm that. We hope it is benign.

Waiting is a difficult time, and we don't have any solution for that other than keep busy.

Wishing you all the best for Thursday and know that others are hoping for the best result for you. Forum is quiet at the moment but members will respond soon.

Kuddlykatie- I'm sorry you have to deal with this. I hope your biopsy comes back benign (and lots of times it does) Good for you in being proactive and doing self breast exams. Yes, you are young but you have set a great example for other young and older women to get themselves checked! You have reached out to a great support system here at BCO. Remember to take lots of deep breaths. I will send positive thoughts your way!

    Katie,

First off, you have my deepest condolences for losing your mom when you were so young. That's rough!

I said a prayer for you that your biopsy result is benign. Am also sending positive thoughts your way. Good luck tomorrow!
