pain at original BC site during chemo
I just did round 2 of AC last Thursday and for the past few days I've been having some tingling and mild pain at the site of my BC. The biopsy-site is well healed and I haven't had any pain there since about 3 weeks after the excision. This is more like little fire ants under the skin where the tumor was and it lasts for a few minutes and then goes away. Is this a good sign? Like the chemo is going to work on those cancer cells that were left behind? Or is this a bad thing? I'll bring it up to my MO next week because it's like the pain is unmanageable - just weird.
Anyone?

Rleepac, I have the same thing. I'm hoping it is killing anything in there! Im going to ask at my next oncologist appointment.
-
ok Italy - let's compare MO notes after next week.
Thanks KayB - encouraging to hear!!!

same for me - tingling at tumour site & it's gone from 3cm to wouldn't find it if I didn't know it was there.

I finished chemo back in Dec 2014. I had chemo before surgery and experienced the same tingling and pain you are describing. I would have worried about it, but I had a chance to see that my chemo was working. I had cause to have an additional MRI after chemo had already begun. They couldn't find what they were looking for, but the doc was excited because they were also able to see tumor reduction after just one week of treatment! At the end of my chemo, I was sent back for MRI. No tumor remained at all AND they couldn't find anything in the nodes anymore either. I still had to have surgery, but my biopsies came back with ZERO cancer cells. Throughout chemo treatment, when I expressed concern about pain or tingling, I was told that it was the drugs doing their job. I could also feel the tumor easily and make note myself that it was getting smaller. I hope this helps and hope you have a successful recovery. Take care.

thank you so much! Those were exactly the responses I was really hoping to hear!!!

I had the same thing and my tumor went from 5 cm to 4 mm.

that is awesome. I had my tumor removed, but I am really, really hoping the tingling is killing off any cells that may have been left behind.

Hi rleepac...I also had pain in my breast with the bc. Not really fire ants like you described, but more like someone grabbing and squeezing the tar out of it! After one cycle, tumor size was about half what it started out as. Right before my #4 cycle on Friday, MO could not detect tumor at all.
P.S. I noticed we have similar dx and were diagnosed on the same day. Hope you are doing well! I was lurking on the March chemo board last night and read your novel excerpt...omg I literally laughed OUT LOUD! Take care--Lorie

hahaha...thanks Lorie! We have a smut novelist in our March group so I was trying my hand at it

Oh how fun! I may have to "lurk" over there more often! LOL

I was thinking that myself. haha

Darnit...I totally forgot to ask my MO about this when I saw him last week! Italy...did you ask?

Good morning, I had tingling and little stabbing pains in the breast like tiny pins and needles. And I could feel the tumor shrinking during AC. It felt almost squishy, soft on one side, and the shape changed. So the AC worked great. Hope this helped. Cheryl

I see them next week on Wednesday, so I haven't had a chance to ask yet.
