frozen section
sorry, another question. I had my excisional biopsy of a 2 cm mass and a piece was frozen for a quick pathology. The doctor said it "looked normal but we will wait for final Path. " I'm pretty confident that the final path will reflect the frozen section but how accurate are frozen sections? Of course I read up on it and saw some studies with high false negative readings and I've freaked myself out again, just when I was feeling good. I should probably stop reading. anyone have any experiences with frozen Sections? Whether concordant or discordant? Tell me I'm just being paranoid!
Thanks again

Ang, the way my BS put it was "we'll be happy if the frozen section is clear but we won't break out the champagne until it's confirmed on the pathology report."
Now, that was in regard to my lymph nodes, and it's not a technical answer at all. If the frozen section looks good I will be hopeful but I won't believe it until I see the path report in black and white.
I don't think you're being paranoid, just afraid to be let down by reality. Hang in there!

thanks hopeful! That's kind of how I was looking at it too!
-
Glad to help, even a tiny bit. Let us know how yours turns out, Ang.

I will keep updating! here's a other question...did you have a frozen biopsy that proved discordant?
-
I haven't had surgery yet, so can't address that issue. I know it CAN happen but have no idea how often. Sorry!
-
Don't be sorry
I'm happy to have any feedback!

So in a strange turn of events, I got my pathology results on sunday.
I took off my compression bra, as i was instructed to do so on sunday. That afternoon, in the matter of less than a minute, the incision cite swelled to the size of a baseball.
My breat surgeon asked me to text her a picture do she can get a better idea of what to do. She then called me back and told me to head over to her ER and that she would drain it in the OR. again I went under general anesthesia and they admitted me for the night. But she DID tell me that my excisional biopsy came back as normal/fibroadenoma
Again, thank you all so very much for responding to my multiple posts, being patient and providing comfort

Congratulations on the results!! I'm sorry you had to go back and get drained, but I bet you're feeling so much better now!
