Adding Age at Diagnosis to medical history

Hello fellow boardmembers and moderators! I am thinking it might be useful to have 'Age at diagnosis' added to medical history snapshot most of us add to the posts. I believe this is a usful piece of information that is often a contributing factor to treatment decisions.

I also think some side effects or the severeness of side effects have to do with age. Many threads on this site are about chemo and other treatments. I think knowing the age of the person would be a helpful piece of information when we try to evaluate the risks of some treatments.

I think level of health matters more than age. I know people older than me that are in great shape and tolerate things well.

I guess people could put their age in the signature though without changing the way it is set up?

I think adding age is a great idea.

Wrenn, I'm glad you are doing so well. I do think, though, that having an optional listing for age would be extremely helpful with independently interpreting information that others post. Different people have different ideas of what "young" is or means, (and that perception and the guideposts of chronological age change with age!)

Yes, age really gives another piece to the puzzle. I am 60.

Yes, adding age is a critical piece of data, for numerous reasons.

At the bare minimum, It helps others with a similar diagnosis connect and share useful tips on what worked (or didn't work) for them.

Personally, I'd love to find women who had the exact same diagnosis as my wife, at the same age, yet from 10+ years ago. Then I could see how they are doing today. What worked? What didn't? Did they progress? Why? If they progressed from an early stage, what would they have done differently when originally diagnosed?

This forum is a treasure trove of data and implementing this is a wise idea!

John, I was just wondering about where you have been the other day. Your research and posts have been very helpful to me and I am sure many others (especially your wife).

Second adding the age. It's one of the first things I wonder when I read a post. Diagnosed at 25 is different from being diagnosed at 70.

Dear Moderators, do you have an update on this? You implemented otherchanges to signature blob recently, however age at diagnosis was NOT added. May I ask why?

Just checking in - do you still plan adding age at diagnosis to signature? It would be very useful especially to our younger members when they start navigating threads about treatment side effects.

    Hello Moderators,

I am just checking in to see where this stands. I think age at diagnosis is a critical piece of information, especially for new members who are using this site as primary source of information for treatment decisions.
