I have a limited number of radiation oncologists to choose from and would welcome feedback from anyone who's been treated in the Portland, OR metropolitan area in the past 1-3 years.

I'm looking for ANY feedback - good or bad - on your RO and/or the facility.

Thanks in advance.

I live in Vancouver And go to Compass Oncology. Dr Schneider is wonderful there. We are trying to decide if I need radiation because I fall in the 'grey' area and I love how he was not afraid to send me to Seattle for a second Opinion. He set it all up. And if it turns out that I need it I will definite,y go with him. He is very caring and knowledgeable. Let me know if you have any other questions. Also if you need a PS, Dr Gabriel is by far the best!!!

Thanks so much for your input! I truly appreciate it, both regarding Dr. Schneider AND Dr. Gabriel.

Good luck figuring out the next pieces of your treatment plan - I hope it works out very well for you.

I second Compass Oncology and Dr. Schneider. I'm in my 6th week of radiation there and the techs. are great, the SIM was great and I can't say enough about this group. I understand they also have a Compass Oncology in Portland where some of the doctors on our side (Vancouver) also treat patients.

I'm so pleased with their care and professionalism.

Thank you, EM! I appreciate your feedback and am REALLY glad to hear that your experience has gone so well. Are you having the DIBH for your left sided cancer?

Hi Hopeful, I had a chance to work with Dr Kubicky RO on my follow up and was very pleased. We had a long discussion on my treatment and what radiation options would be if cancer returned in the same breast. All options are open for the future except IORT in the same area. She works at OHSU and at the Beaverton Knight Center. She will be doing my follow-ups not that Dr Marquez is leaving.

I also had an intial apt with Dr Raish MO that I found very valuable. I really liked his approach and recommendations. With Chemo not recommended and hormone therapy optional (risk so small that treatment gives little reduction) I am following up with him. I'll be trying hormones and if no side effects its a bonus. If side effects that we can't resolve, they would outweigh the small benefit and will stop taking them. The 62 days of life I would gain would not be worth 5 years of quality of life.

Hope you find your RO and work out everything with insurance.

Thanks for your update and good wishes. I'm really glad you liked both of them. I'm sure it's a relief to feel comfortable with your revised team. It sounds as though your MO is taking a very reasonable approach, which is encouraging, isn't it? Good luck with the Arimidex - I hope it's easy on you and tough on any remaining cells.

I'll let you know how it works out - we're still up in the air.

In the meantime, enjoy this very changeable weekend!
