Hi Ladies, I had my LX and SNB 3 weeks ago. Everything went smoothly and I'm healing fast, however, I'm very tender (to the touch) on my back over my ribcage. I mentioned it at my post op appt and she didn't seem too concerned. It doesn't seem to be getting any better. Anyone else experience this?

Yes, i do think it is something that happens quite a bit. I think the surgeons aren't concerned, because they have seen this. It happened to me too, and this far out, I STILL have rib-pains on lumpy side. I thought they maybe dropped me off the table!

    Hello:

Had my lumpectomy and SLND last Wed. My front rib cage too hurt after surgery...it also felt very tight. When I told my physiotherapist this prior to my discharge, she said I am to do deep breathing exercises at least 10 times every day. She said I must hold my breath to a count of 5 and breath out slowly. I asked her why. She said that during surgery, one of the medicine given to me was to stop part of my lungs from breathing...and so was partially the reason I felt my lungs collapsing....and tight...

She said it's important that I do these breathing exercises daily to enable that part of my lungs to expand and to return back to normal...So I did, every morning and evening...now I don't feel the hurt or the tightness as I did the first 4 days after surgery...and my lungs returning to normal...

Perhaps you could try it and see if it works for you...?
