SOFT study...which AI did you start with?
My blood work this week showed I'm back to being premenopausal so my MO wants me to start on OS + AI. She said I'd start with Exemestane. I looked at the cost on my app and it showed $163 for a 90 day supply. Yikes!! The other two were only $20 for 90 days. I'm considering asking her to start me on one of the others. Although from what I've read, the SE are usually easier on Exemestane. Any advice

I was put on Exemestane (Aromasin) three weeks ago. I did not pay as much as your ap shows, however -- insurance picked up all but $25. SEs haven't been too bad -- some moodiness and warm flushes. But, I have nothing to compare it to.
-
I am yet to start exemestane too. Does anyone have any experience with it (OS + Exemestane) and can share it?

My exemestane copay is only $5, what a difference. Are you sure you looked up the generic/exemestane and not Aromasin? I'm 38 and have been on it for a month and a half so far the hot flashes are pretty intense + loosing some hair.
-
The Aromasin was even more expensive. I get my prescriptions through Express Scripts. I don't know why it was so much more expensive. Hearing about so many losing their hair is a little depressing. My hair is growing back after chemo. I'd hate to lose it again. :
-
That is very expensive for a generic medicine. Now I can understand why I keep hearing that compliance with anti hormonals is not always the best. I wonder if there is co pay assistance program for Aromasin? My husband was on a very expensive medicine and it was very easy to qualify for the co pay assistance program, I think he ended up paying only $25 a month.

I have only been on Femara then letrozole when it became available in the generic form - letrozole. I pay $8 a month for it through VA. -
Mommato, I started (and continue) on letrozole/Femara. Generic is $10 co-pay for 30 day supply.
I've not had any real issues with it. I take it at bedtime to reduce the impact of any fatigue, wooziness, etc.
For those having issues with hot flashes, I've read that magnesium helps. You might check out the complementary medicine threads for more on that. Magnesium is synergistic with calcium and Vit.D, which will play a big part in keeping your bones healthy while on AIs.
Good luck to all of you.

Check with the manufacturer of the brand name and see if there are any deals for you like thy have for the brand name Arimidex. I have Blue Cross and it is 20.00
vs 9.00 a month for the other two AI's..
