Question about lymph node

I had a biopsy last Thursday on a abnormal lymph node that turned out to be benign. My sister who was diagnosed with breast cancer at 26 feels that I should have the lymph node remove based on my family history. What would you do? Thank you!

Lady, your lymph nodes are a defense against cancer spread. I'd keep it. I had one node known to be positive for cancer at the time of my bc dx so I needed to have more nodes removed to check them when I had surgery. Out of the fifteen nodes removed only the one contained cancer. My surgeon made the comment that that one node sure did it's job. The cancer tumour in the node had grown to be nearly the size of the tumour in my breast, but it stopped right there and didn't get any farther.

Thank you ladies so much. We both had the brca testing done as well as my aunts who both had breast cancer. I have the high risk screenings right now and my obgyn always goes against me having the mrI as part of my screenings so I receive mammograms and ultrasounds. I am negative still waiting on my sister

Thank you so much Kay I will definitely talk to my surgeon. It's the same with me my surgeon said something is definitely going on in out family. He suggested removing the whole lymph node. I have never had surgery so staying away from it. I truly hope you get answers for what gene is causing breast cancer in your family.
