    so i had a port placed in this afternoon. how long did you experience pain? its not so much the incision area ... but the vein the tube is in... my neck hurts to move, and i just cant get comfortable, i have an ice pack on it (third one already!) and i was hoping to work tomorrow since i will be out thur and friday for a ton more procedures and need to get things done for a weekend event... its a desk job and i just need to do some data entry and pritinv, but taking the pain med in the hospital and two tyenol at home and it atill hurts! sorry to just go on and on.. i just didnt expect all this pain! 😢

    So sorry to hear you're in pain. My mom also had hers placed today and is also in a ton of pain. We would love to know the answer as well. Hoping you feel better soon.

    It is surgery so there will be some discomfort.

    My surgeon sent me home with vicodan to take. He impressed on Hubby to be sure I didn't deal with pain and to take them. Well, I humored Hubby and took them til he woke me up at midnight to take the next one'. I was happily sleeping so no pain issue.

    I got out of doing barn chores for 2 weeks after implant as Dr said no heavy lifting but I was back teaching and training in a couple of days with no problems but the area was a bit tender for several days.

    Everyone is different, but my port was painful for just a day or two. Follow you doctor's instructions for pain relief and take it easy.

    My neck hurt for about 2 days. I realized eventually that the steri strips and bandage were causing a lot of the discomfort.I have now had the port for months and still occasionally feel stretching of the skin over it but no pain. I think it is important to gently move your neck and arm as you can. I guarded mine at first and when they couldn'tdraw blood they put me through all kinds of calisthenics. I was like "you mean I am allowed to move?"

    thanks everyone... i have been using some ice packs on where they did the lydocain since i can see the nasty brusisng- it looks just like when i had my biopsy and that took a few days but i was able to go to work but today i stayed home and tomorrow i have more biopsys and body scans so i guess the docs can look at it
