Dbl Mast w/ Reconst: What to do bout Worm-like Horizontal Scars?

Options

I've done nothing since my original surgery 5 years ago. Scars still purple, thick worm-like, so I always have to wear bras, unless I wear a top that is baggy, with dark colors. I don't like wearing bras!

How difficult is it for a plastic surgeon to minimize scaring?

    Dear DCIS,

Welcome to the BCO community. We hope you find some support and answers here from our wonderful members who walk similar paths and truly know the journey. You may want to check out this link to information on our site about Scar Tissue. We hope that this sheds some light. It is probably worth an appointment to see what can be done to minimize the scarring. The Mods

So sorry that you are dealing with this issue. Could what you describe be keloids? If it is then there are not much to do prevent them, some people just seem to have a predisposition for them. Have you had any other surgery? And how did that scar heal? There are some treatments for them but that's all I know. Maybe your PCP or plastic surgeon can help. I hope someone else has more info for you.
