A most bodacious congratulations, Allmodesty...! It's better than an icecream sundae with whipped cream a cherry on top.  Enjoy your accomplishment.

    Heartfelt hugs,

    Cheers,

Allmodestyisgone - Congrats! Enjoy your new found freedom from treatments! I can't wait to get there!

Jean - Yay! Glad you're doing better this morning.

Just 13 left for me (8 regular, 5 boosts). Can't wait. I didn't get to go braless quite as much over the weekend as I had hoped, but with lots of Aquaphor at night, my underarm definitely feels better. I'm lucky enough to work from home for my full-time job, so there will be no bra for that. I have a second job that I work one weekend day and several weeknights. I'm taking the weeknights off for the next three weeks just so I can come home from tx and get rid of the bra! That should help.

Spent a few hours Saturday at the ver with our almost 8-year-old lab. He was diagnosed with cancer the same week I was back in October and Saturday started coughing up blood--LOTS of it! Seems it has metastasized in his lungs. Not sure just how much time he has, but he was able to come home with us after the bleeding stopped and they gave him some pain meds. I'm glad he's held on this long. I KNOW we couldn't have handled loosing him back in October! We just want to give him as much time to be happy as we can. As you all are very aware--CANCER SUCKS!!!

It's MARCH MADNESS (and I'm not referring to b-ball) as opposed to "cabin fever" !!! Let the Sun shine and the spring begin....hopefully :)

Hygeia - it is definitely better than an ice cream sundae, even with whipped cream and a cherry on top!

Farmerma -so sorry to hear about your dog. They are an important member of the family and it hurts to see them suffer. Enjoy your time with him.

mqt64, that's funny about your grandson and the hangers :) Yes, I think my grandson has taken cupcakes in to both his 2-day-a-week preschool and his 2-day-a-week daycare, opened presents while Skyping us on the actual birthday, and is having the party at his house (that we will miss, sadly) this Sunday. The birthday that keeps on giving! Jean, so glad your intestinal system has settled down! And Allmodesty, woo-hoo!

Today the techs and RO did my set-up for boosts, so now I'm sporting a whole new collection of stickers and marks, along with the other ones I still have, since I have my last regular treatment tomorrow. I'm seeing a light at the end of this tunnel!

farmerma, I'm so very sorry about your dog. Definitely, cancer sucks, and dogs get most of the same cancers we get. We lost our two Rhodesian Ridgebacks to different cancers only a year apart over the past several years, and it was so hard. Now we have a young RR that we got from the rescue a little over a year ago after we lost our second male—she's just 3 now. I'm trying to enjoy every bit of the time we have with her, because it goes way too fast. The book I'm working on now is about dog and human co-evolution, and I've written a lot about the cancer thing. Labs are definitely not immune to a number of cancers. I will be thinking of you and your sweet boy. He's too young for this—and it's always too soon for us humans who love them—but how lucky he is to have such a loving home for his final days.

Finished 13 of 30 today and so far other than being tender in the nipple area haven't had any real side effects.  Saw my RO last Thursday and he said to just use Aquaphor on that area twice a day.  Can't seem to remember to do that so it must not bother me too much.

Congratulations to all who have finished and am praying for those who are having bad side effects.

Allmodestyisgone. Congrats to you for that last day at rads.

Farmerma. That is so sad about your dog. Glad to know he has hung on to bring you comfort.

Jean - Hope your relief continues.

Farmerma, I'm so sorry to hear about your lab. I hope he's comfortable and glad you and your family have time to be with him. We lost our beloved Jack Russell to cancer 3 years ago and my DH and I still miss her terribly. Losing a cherished pet is hard to say the least. That you and your Lab both got dx in October.... I can't imagine. You're in my thoughts.

Hi kayfry, sorry you've had such loss with your RR's. Cancer truly does SUCK and it doesn't matter if we're human or animal.

You've written books on cancer? How do we find your books?

Quiggy, no, I didn't mean to say I've written books about cancer. I do write books, though, and the one I'm revising now is about how dogs and human evolved together. (I'm a huge animal person and dog person, and often write about animals and science). The thing is that humans and dogs actually evolved to have many cancers together, that's what I was trying to say. And I have written about that in this book (which won't be published until sometime next year, especially since I"m so far behind on my deadlines). My last several books have been for young readers, about 12 to adult. I have one about chocolate coming out April 7, but I'm not trying to advertise here :) (I do have a neglected website/blog and can be found at Amazon under my writing name—Kay Frydenborg). Personally, I'm waiting to see that 3-part Ken Burns special about cancer, which starts on March 30, the day I finish rads!

no worries Kay. I just got so excited to read your work!! Will check your page.

I am an animal lover as well, currently have a wonderful Jack Russell/Greyhound rescue that we've fallen madly in love with.

We had horses while the kids were home, did 4-H, drill team and show circuit. I don't do much but occasionally a trail ride or just muck stalls. My daughter is still active and got certification in horses chiropractics. Love horses and find them great therapy.

Quiggy, I have loved horses (AND dogs) my entire life, have kept horses for more than 30 years (starting as soon as I was in any financial position to manage it). My daughter rode and showed growing up, doesn't anymore, but became a veterinarian. I still have one horse, my 17-year-old Remy, who has been the equine love of my life since he was 4, and he's still sound and doing great. I ride him as often as I can, several days a week. I have had all kinds of dogs over the years, including two Jack Russells (sadly now deceased, one of them from cancer). But I'm having trouble picturing a J. Russell/Greyhound, and would love to see a picture! Our last 3 dogs have been rescues; I think that's really the way to go. Mucking stalls is pretty great therapy, although I don't have my horse at home these days. I still muck his stall sometimes, though. Just being around animals is the best therapy for me.

Question... Has everyone always had 2 techs present during treatment? Twice there was only one tech and I was told the other was "at lunch". After leaving yesterday I wondered if this is standard. Love, Jean

Jean - I have always had 2 techs, once I had 3 for some reason and twice I had the 2 plus students from a nearby vocational school. The first 2 weeks it was always the same people then the last 2 weeks I've had the one usual one and then one from a different location. I find I'm missing my original ones. Maybe we bonded those first 2 weeks. :)

I always had two techs and sometimes a student with them. The techs were usually familiar faces but towards the end, I had some new ones. That was a little weird but whatever.

Nursing teams were generally the same set of 4.

I always had two techs, sometimes a student. He techs rotated between the two rooms, so I could have different techs depending on the day. There were two nurses as well. They mostly floated around in case there was a question of I needed something. I met with my RO once a week, and the nurse was always present then too

I've always had at least 2 techs, occasionally 3. Usually the same 3, who seem to rotate schedules. At least once it was someone else, also just as nice. I thought maybe she was part-time, and that was why she's not always there, but not sure.

I had 4 that alternated so all but once two were in the room to position me. One was outside of the room at the computer screen, sometimes one of the people who positioned me and sometimes that was a 3rd person. Do you think they use just one person to position you and a second person is at the computer? The day I had just one person position me she had to go back and forth from one side of the table to the other - awkward and inefficient.

My experience is the same as WonderWomans. A couple of times started with one then second came running in after lunch break, apologizing for onion breath😬 I meet with RO weekly and have nurses cell phone number and I'm encouraged to phone any time. I try not to abuse this, but it's nice to have! Hooray for sunshine and bluebonnets- Linda
