Wondering if anyone else out there has fatty liver disease?
I have been on this site 2007, but could not find or remember my user name and pssword. But I am wondering since I am five years survivor now how many of us have fatty liver disease (without weignt gain). I was also her2 pisitive, so I did the regular surgery chemo then rads and after that a year on herceptin. I am wondering only because another women in my very small town also has fatty liver disease or NASH and she also had chemo. thanks snowy

I know it can be a side effect of the AIs. So far I am OK, but it certainly was and is something I worry about.

No - I haven't had any liver issues. I did develope Gall Bladder Sludge (yes that is a medical term) on adjuvant chemo (Taxol). (Had done DD A/C neoadjuvant). The Sludge did go on to become Gall Stones according to CT scan (scan done to check something else) but have never had any issues with.

My PCP told me six months ago I had a "fatty liver" - she put it down to the sudden weight gain on the AA combo - I wasn't aware it was another se of the dreaded AIs but it doesn't surprise me - there is no treatment that I am aware of and she didn't suggest anything I should change so......

I do!!! I have fatty liver due to arimidex or so my onc thinks that is the reason. I have elevated liver numbers - at onepoint they were doubled (ast and alt) but have since come down and are only mildly elevated. Onc sent me for ct which showed fatty liver. I did have chemo too and take Metformin Did a three week break from Metformin ten bloodwork to see if that was cause and liver numbers stayed same. Onc not worried anymore- they aren't rising anymore pretty much the numbers (alt and ast) are staying the same and ct ruled out mets. I have been on arimidex three years

I have fatty liver caused by high intake of sugar. I have had it before and got rid of it by eating properly. I think there are many causes. My PCP wasn't worried either.

I am six and a half years out and my General Practitioner has told me that I have a fatty liver. I too did chemo, herceptin and rads. I am gluten free, dairy free, am a moderate drinker and usually eat a low fat diet. I am not overweight as I did manage to lose the weight that chemo dumped on me. Never even thought that this was another gift from chemo. I guess I can add it to the list of osteoporosis, neuropathy and fatigue. Still exercise 12 to 14 hours a week and can manage about 2.5 hours of racket sports before neuropathy makes me stop. Don't know what to do to get rid of the fatty liver. I don't know what else to do.

fatty liver here after 2 years on Tamoxifen. I blame it on that, although I did also have chemo

I had fatty liver (and gained a lot of weight). I lost the weight and fatty liver by eating Primal and cutting way way back on sugar and white flour. Soft drinks are a major cause of fatty liver - don't drink soda every day, think of it as a treat (or help for stomach upset! I keep a bottle of Coke in the fridge just in case of nausea).
If you are insulin resistant, you might want to get your doctor to put you on Metformin - or just take cinnamon capsules - you can get Cinsulin brand at the Vitamin Shoppe or drugstore.com.
My AST and ALT went from elevated to normal when I changed my eating habits and got serious about exercising. Obviously YMMV but cutting back on soft drinks and white carbs can't hurt.
