There could be many reasons. (I have not read your previous posts.)

Maybe the surgeon wanted to let you know about an area that might need to be watched in the future. Maybe you are of higher risk because of unseen factors, such as family history, your personal history (such as if you have had lymphoma and chest radiation TREATMENT).

Maybe the area is benign but of increased risk, such as ALH, ADH, or LCIS. Some of these women are offered anti-hormonal therapy. Sometimes they want to excise the area to make sure there isn't something worse going on in that area.

Maybe the area contains some DH (ductal hyperplasia) or LH (lobular hyperplasia) that does not put one at (significantly measurable) higher risk, but is on the continuum between 'perfectly normal' and ALH or ADH. (Its the 'atypical' in atypical lobular hyperplasia or atypical ductal hyperplasia that puts you at measurably higher risk.)

Maybe they see some scar tissue which might make it difficult to see or feel things in that area in the future.

Some surgeons want to give the results, whatever they are, in person.

Thank you, that all makes sense now leaf...I guess I just needed time for all of it to settle in. I am calling the office today and getting a copy of my reports.

Called my doctors office and they are sending me copies of my biopsy and mammogram results...the nurse told me that is was the radiologist that suggest seeing the surgeon.  The surgeon's office called me today and wants to see me on the 23 and she will discuss everything.

See the surgeon on Monday. It is the second spot that they found on US that they are concerned about indicating  the presence of  atypical ductal hyperplasia and intraductal papilloma.  These histopathologic features, in combination with the irregular morphologic features,  necessitates surgical consult for a complete surgical excision of the lesion, with BIRADS assessment 4B.That is how it read. Going to be a long weekend. Blessing to all that have diagnosis and for those waiting.
