IDC in left breast
My mother is 50 year old. in Nov.14 she have diagnosed tumor in her left breast. When we met with surgeon he suggested for FNAC test. When report of FNAC came it has fibroadenoma. Then he told for surgery of tumor. After surgery tumor sent for Biopsy. And when biopsy report shows that IDC in left breast. We went for further treatment in AIIMS Delhi. Again there have mammogram test, and Biopsy of tumor slide has happen. When report came it shows that there is malignant cell and doctor decide the stage is T0N1 and BIRADS 6 in left breast. And they suggest for Mastectomy. But when they went for Mastectomy they did not removed complete breast. And they told that they have removed some part from left breast & whole left axilla. And they sent some part of left axila for Biopsy. But the Biopsy report after surgery show that there is no any evidence found of malignant cell in the section examined. Now they have suggest for 6 cycle of chemotherapy.
The reports lines of Biopsy after surgery are as bellow.
Post surgery Biopsy Report: Benign Breast Prarenchyma with extensive suture, granuloma formation foreign body giant cell reaction with areas of old hemorrahge and aggregates of histiocytes and foci of fat nacrosis. There is no evidence of residual malignancy in the section examined.
Please suggest right step for next.

Dear sunilmishra, welcome to BCO Forum, and our best to your mother. The final biopsy report is very good. Sometimes the initial biopsies can capture the problem cells if you are very lucky. The post surgery biopsy being clear is good news. Your mother will still need to strongly consider following her doctor's/surgeon's advice of chemotherapy to ensure any loose cancer cells are dealt with. Your mother's doctors have all her results there to assess so they are best qualified to offer advice. Were any sentinel nodes removed as well?
We wish you mother a SE free chemotherapy course, but everyone reacts differently.
Your mother is lucky to have a supportive son like you.

Sunilmishra, Your mother's Final Report showing no positive nodes and clear margins is very good news.
It is good that you have gone to the appointments with her. She needs a "second pair of ears" to absorb all the information the doctors give during an office visit. Please make a list of any questions she (or you) have for each future appointment. This is a stressful time but once the treatment plan is in place you both will feel more in control.
I cannot tell you what is the next right step. We are each so unique and our breast cancers are so varied. Our Oncologists follow a standard of care that is the best medicine available today for each type of cancer.
Your mother will make the right decision. And I hope you will keep us informed on her progress on this challenging journey.

Thanks Moderators for your kind response.
In the reply of your question that Were any sentinel nodes removed as well? Yes Axillary lymph-node dissection and 17 lymph-node found. 05 of which were involved by tumor (5/17) with perinodal soft tissue infiltration.
