ok Ladies I had my Diep on the 23- mon of feb. I released on the following Friday. On sat evening my breast flap went purple. So I called the sitter back over to the house. Myhubby rushed me 1 hr to Denver and at Midnight I went back under the knife to remove the left DEIP. I woke up with a wound vac on the left side, and The right diep still in tact. I waited 3-4 days and on the following wed I had a LAttissimus flap on the left. I was released on Thursday.

The pain is off the hook. I had tons of drains, currently I have 3. I hope to get 2 out on fri. I hurt every where. Stomach, back breasts flak, underarms. The past weekend I started vomiting. Yeah fun!!!! Can this get any worse.

Ok my boobies.... I have 2... very small...close to matching, but not perfect.

I thank god for my hubby. He is amazing.

I hope I did not scare you ladies. My scnenario is very unlikely for you.

    Many blessings to you

Wow Rangerwife, sorry that happened to you, but thank goodness you were able to get back to the hospital and successfully have the lat flap!

Just have to be vigilant, eh!! :o

Oh Rangerwife, I'm so sorry one of the flaps failed! I hope your pain will diminish soon and that you'll heal quickly.

I'm so sorry that you had to go through all of that, RangerWife! Three surgeries in 10 days is a lot. I'm glad you are recovering with complete reconstruction. My uni-DIEP was done in two surgeries a few days apart (due to a previous flap failure, my PS wanted to be sure the DIEP Was successful before removing the other abdominal flap), and I felt that the pain was much worse after the second surgery. I hope you are resting well -- so glad this intense experience is behind you.

I finally got my surgery date for April 16, 2015. I will have BMX with DIEP reconstruction. I am glad I have a plan as it makes me feel that I am moving forward and making some headway with my cancer DX.

Interestingly, my HER2 and FISH test came back equivocal on the biopsy tissue so they will re-test the tumor after my mastectomy.

hatrish. Good luck with your surgery. So wish I had chosen DIEP immediately following BMX.

I had an inconclusive HER2 pathology report also. My local hospital showed I was HER2 positive and my second opinion team pathologist showed me as negative. The two consulted one another sent slide to Mayo for a fish test and that came back equivocal. Oncologist all consulted and agreed that I should be treated as HER2 positive as it was too risky to chance I wasnt. I was also given high dose chemo because I might have been triple negative, which is also high risk, if in fact I was not HER2+.

I didn't realize that it could be so unclear sometimes but I am glad I had all the testing and opinions and treated for both.

Good luck on your surgery and hope you have clear answers.

    Take care,

    Julieho

Hi Diep sisters, just checking in to let everyone know that I'm home! I had some post op problems with shortness of breath and they kept me in longer to check everything out. I'm doing well but had horrible experience with pain pump. My body doesn't like morphine! Taking Tylenol and seems good. Anyway I'm sorry, I'm exhausted but just wanted to wish everyone for their love and support- I was surrounded by positive hugs!! Nighty-night!

Hi slv58. Glad you are home and doing well. I don't mix well with morphine either. It makes my blood pressure go up and makes me hyper. I did not sleep for 48 hours after my c-section because of taking morphine. It took them that long to figure out what the problem was. Take care.

Hi everyone! I just spent 3 hours reading this whole thread. Whew! I like to be informed about what I'm getting myself into and I know docs don't tell everything. I have my DIEP scheduled for June 24th. I just barely got my date. I'm in the middle of chemo right now and just looking forward to getting this year over with so I can get back to a normal life. I cannot WAIT to get rid of my stomach pouch. I've always hated it so I guess it just took cancer to get rid of it. LOL... Hope everyone is having a wonderful day.

Slv: I hope you are healing nicely!

Brandi: I am SO with you on that stomach thing. I had my PS consult Monday and the PS said he could take if from my butt. I said ooohhh nooo. I want that stomach gone. I might as well get SOMETHING out of this nightmare. :)

    Brandi and Trvler,

I certainly ended up with the flattest stomach I have ever had in my life. But I have not really gone to a smaller size. I wore a 16-18W pants before. I had to go dress shopping today since I am the best man at my 68 year old cousin 's wedding next month (I am 65 next month). I ended up with a 16W dress. It looks absolutely marvelous on me with my size C foobs, and a flat stomach. So you have that to look forward to, although I don't think it is adequate compensation for what we have to go through. I'd rather be my old, fat, pre-cancer self.

Hello everyone. I had my surgery as scheduled. It was a long procedure. 9 1/2 hours .
I am home recovering now. Managing the pain ok and soreness. Praying that I don't have any complications. Taking out three of the four drains Friday. Looking forward to that. I felt like I was having a baby after in hospital because I keep waiting to hear the ultrasound of the new arteries in the flap. Lol. What a reassuring sound.

Hate to show these boobs to my husband yet. Too many scars

My prayers are with you all. I wll keep you posted. Thanks for the well wishes.

    DeeCee.
