New diagnosis of DCIS and invasive micropappilary carcinoma

Hi there,

Earlier today I received a diagnosis of DCIS (grade 3) as well as invasive micropappilary carcinoma. At this time we don't know if it has spread to the lymph nodes or anywhere else. This is all I know so far, but I'm really scared and am looking for some reassurance and hope. I see the surgeon, oncologist, and radiologist on Tuesday.

    Hello lovelivelaugh! I am so sorry you have had to come her to the club no one wants to join, but so glad you found us. We all know how terribly frightening it is when you have a little information, but are still waiting for more. The waiting is the worst and we all know how easy it is to go to the dark side, with our fears. You will feel better once you have found out what your options are and your Doctors reassure you!

    The Mods have given you some links, if you want more info check out the Diagnosis of DCIS and you'll understand more about your Dx. I had DCIS grade 3 too and found the information here, to be very reliable, try to stay off Dr Google, there is a lot of out of date info out there.

    Try to take some deep breaths and keep busy till your appointments, come here and ask anything. There will be many women who will come to talk about their experiences with similar Dx. You will do fine! Take it easy and let us know how you get on.

    Thanks for your encouraging words Ariom. This all came from a baseline mammogram and has been a complete shock. My nurse practitioner recommended that I get a baseline mammogram this year, but never in a million years  did I think it would come back positive for breast cancer. I am especially worried about the invasive micropappillary cancer as I was told it tends to be aggressive.

    I can imagine how much of a shock this was for you. I don't know anything about the micropapilliary cancer, but I am sure there will be others who have had that Dx and they will share their experiences with you.

    Let us know how you are and I wish you all the best for the appointments on Tuesday. I hope you have someone to go with you, if not, it is a good idea to record the consults, it is very easy to zone out, when you get an overload of information. Try to take it easy over the weekend and get plenty of rest. Hugs to you!

    Thanks so much, I'm feeling a little better about things now, not in quite as much shock as I was. Now I just have to hope for the best!
