Know of any Insurance providers for pre-existing conditions ?

I live in Jamaica and have exhausted the paltry insurance I had. Did NOT know that the local insurance cap is for LIFETIME and not renewable every year, and so it did not cover all my treatment. Criminal! Anyway, does anyone know of a US, UK or any other health insurance provider who offers international insurance for pre-existing conditions? Most of the companies I know of require at least a two year wait period, if they accept you at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated, very nervous that I am now uninsured.

Certain states have high risk pools where people like yourself might find help. Sorry I have no knowledge of international policies for individuals. Maybe your hospital or clinic has a social worker/financial counselor with background in this area. Are you a US or UK citizen? Perhaps relocating until you're "out of the woods" could be an option. I would also be very nervous going 'bare'. Let us know what you learn.

I am a Canadian citizen but don't want to have to relocate for a lot of reasons....but I very well might have to! I really miss Canadian universal health care, but not too fond of the winters. I'm trying to get international insurance. It seems extremely difficult , very few companies want the risk. The protocol seems to be, IF they accept you, there is a moratorium of a few years where they will not pay for anything related to cancer, but after that moratorium period they will. I would be glad to get that, if I could.

Deblc - you need to talk to an insurance BROKER they'll do all the work for you i.e. finding a company that will write the policy you need - I am guessing it's going to be very expensive - I am writing to you from Canada and understand how you feel but I left South Carolina and its mild weather to come home because there is no way I could afford to be sick away from Canada and honestly I was terribly homesick (just not for the frigid weather) good luck.

Sandy...yes that's what I am doing. It is very hard to move back to Canada, my entire family is here, my husband has a business here so it's very difficult financially to move back. We're actually born in Jamaica, lived in Canada and became citizens, then moved back here. But yes, definitely if I can't get private insurance, I will have to think about going back.More and more, I believe Canada is one of the best places to live the world. I miss it a lot. But very hard to move back, get jobs at our advanced age (57+), etc etc etc
