Waiting over a week for test results

I had A vacuum biopsy. Last Friday. I was told I would have results in 2 to 3 days. Every time I call I'm told it's not in yet. But yesterday when I called they told me it was because it was sent out for further evaluation and that theyjust wanted to be sure of everything. They said it might be in today or if not Monday. So I called today and was told the doctor wasn't in.This is terrible. To give me information that makes me think that it's not a positive result, and then they make you wait days and days and days just want to gripe to those who would understand

    Chrissy - I had a biopsy a few years ago. It is routine at my hospital for two pathologists to independently look at the sample. In my case one doc called it ADH/ALH the other called it DCIS/LCIS. When this happens they send the sample to a national lab for a tiebreaker. Vanderbilt called the sample ADH/ALH. Apparently the cells look quite similar at this stage and it is sometimes hard to tell the difference. I have seen this several times on this board. That is just a possible scenario. Crossing my fingers that it is completely nothing. Hang in there.

    Hi chrissymc, so sorry this is happening to you, but it certainly doesn't have to indicate a bad result. I know how hard it is to wait, I had 11 days before I got my results for my first stereotactic biopsy, my wait was due to a public holiday, holding things up.

    I am hoping for a benign result for you, the odds are definitely in your favor as around 80% of biopsies return a benign result. Try to keep yourself busy, you'll know soon. Let us know how you get on.

    Thanks to all who responded to me. Waiting over the weekend again is terrible! I really have the feeling that the results are going to be b/c. I hopefully will know one way or the other on Mon
