I knew 2 yrs ago something wasn't right. All I have was a clear/greenish sticky discharge, but my mammogram came back good. Back this Nov I found a huge mass in my left breast. We both knew what it was, but everyone was like at your age it maybe worse case is a cyst and they will go in and remove it. I could not make anyone understand it was probably more. March 4, 2015 I went in for my mammogram and breast ultrasound. After the mammogram the radiology dr came in to do the ultrasound and informed me in a few mins I would be having a biopsy done as well. During the core biopsy he was able to go in and get one sample no problem, but when he would try for any more the mass was like a rock and it would bounce back off it instead of going in. He had to use a different tool that he himself would force it manually to go in. He got 3 more samples. Him and the nurse were talking about some cases for different women and all I could make out was him saying no her case is unlike any of the other cases. Anytime we asked about if it is cancer or possibly cancer or anything they would answer short and avoid that subject. They just acted strange. The scheduled me an appt with a surgeon before I left that day. This was a week ago yesterday and 6 days after that I was seeing the surgeon due to them calling me the day before and saying yes it was cancer and it was called invasive lobular cancer. Yes I cried because I am only 32 married and have 2 beautiful boys that are only 7 and 10. I am not ready to leave them, but I have other symptoms so I am not sure if it spread. I lost my mom when she was 41 due to a massive heart attach and I am not ready to put my kids through this. I in Jan had a massive amout of blood work to see while I stayed tired all the time and barely do anything and that was it for the rest of the day. All came back normal, but I knew something wasn't right and now I know that feeling you get is always correct. Anyway I had a contrasted mri done Wed to see exactly how big it is over 6 cm. Also because of its size I have to start Chemo first. I meet with a Plastic Surgeon this week coming up along with the Chemo and Radiation Dr's and I have a echo this week. Monday the 23rd I will go in for surgery to remove my sential lymph nodes and be injected with the blue dye to see if it has spread and get a stage. I will have have the port in that day. She also told me there is a big poosiblity they will eventually have to take out my ovaries because it feeds off the hormones, I told ehr that is fine, but I can't have kinds without them so you will be taking everything due to I have a fibroid tumor on my uterus and I am having lots of issues, Not sure how to react. I am sad and cry, I guess some what in denial, trying to be strong for everyone and myself and not letting them know how scared I really am. I am in denial because no one in my family has had breast cancer or any other cancer. I was test for the cancer gene because even though she wasn't diagnoised with cancer my mom had alump and was to scared to biopsy it like they wanted and then she past away so I really don't know. Sorry this is so long, but I feel like I can release what I am going through and feeling to this group and someone be able to understand how I feel.

Yes it is a symptom but because of the color and my breast being dense so the first mammogram didn't pick anything up they said being that color is normal. Well I have found out any discharge is to be checked into and it doesn't matter the color because it can all be a sign of breast cancer. Also people so breast cancer doesn't hurt. Well I would get sharp pains where the mass is off and on and they wouldn't last long. Also if you messed with mass it would hurt.Aftr the biopsy is when it started to become painful and hurt way more often

So sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I know how scared you are, I was 36 and had a 18 month old and a 13 year old. The size of the tumor may sound scary too but it really does not matter that much, 2cm or 6cm - the treatment will be the same. Chances ate that you can tolerate the treatment fairly well since you are so young, I had very few issues with the surgery, chemo and radiation. If you want to have more kids ask about Zoladex/Lupron injections before you start chemo, that will protect your ovaries from going into menopause. You can get a second opinion about the need to remove your ovaries, and you should at least wait for the result of your genetic testing. Hugs to you and wishing you and your family strength as you start the treatment.

So sorry to hear about your diagnosis...I was diagnosed at the Age of 37 this past Fall and my twin sister was just diagnosed in January as well.  I wanted to relay the information she just received from her oncologist to provide some comfort as we were terrified by the size of our lumps also.  Hers was 5+cm and she started with chemotherapy.  She has now completed about 1/3 of her chemo treatments and the lump has already shrunk to less than half of the original size.  Her oncologist told her that she is responding very well and there will likely be no lump left by the time she gets to surgery.  He also told her that her chance of recurrence is very low as a result of this.  I know everyone responds differently but wanted to give you some hope...I too was terrified initially as my (and her) lump was so much larger than I saw for many people.
