Hello, I am 35 years old and found a large , 3x5 cm, lump in my right breast 2 weeks ago. I thought I felt something in the same place about a year ago but talked myself out if it and now it is obvious. I saw my OB who sent me for a mammogram and US that day. Neither of them showed the lump so she referred me to a breast surgeon. I saw her today and she had no problem feeling the lump. She said my breast aren't dense at all but then said the lump is probably a lump of dense tissue. She is 90-95% sure it is benign. She gave me some options and I elected to have excisional biopsy next week. I should feel better, right? But I am still worried. I have family history of ovarian cancer and started my menses at 8 years old, no other risk factors that I know of.

    Had my excisional biopsy today. I didn't get to talk to the surgeon afterward, she just talked to my husband. She told him she still thinks its benign and said it looked like there was some scar tissue in the lump. I am trying to think of how that could have formed. I was surprised by how big the incision is and how much tissue she removed. Either the lump was even bigger than what I was feeling or she took out surrounding tissue. I am a little annoyed that she didnt talk to me. Is that routine? Anyway, still worried.  Anxiously awaiting appointment for results in 8 days :-(

    devinswife, yay for getting that done & over. She might of had another procedure to go to. They need to take tissue surrounding the lump, just in case it was Cancer, they would have clean margins.

    Sounds like it went well & hopefully someone calls you earlier to tell you it's begnin.
