Infected fibroadenoma or something else?
I have a fibroadenoma located 1cm in at the 6 o'clock position. I'm not sure if it's the same thing but there's this painful/irritating lump/ridge directly on the bottom of my nipple. It's hard to describe it. My nipple feels very irritable still. This has been going on since my biopsy (core needle). At first I thought I had an infection but the dr didn't think so. I hadn't noticed this ridge/lump thing until the last couple of days. It feels like a swollen ridge of some sort. Any insight? My biopsy was the 27th. Not even sure what I'm asking. Could it be the fibroadenoma and it's infected? I was having other symptoms too but they went away. I've viewed pictures of the anatomy and I can't see anything that looks like what I am feeling.

soldieron,
I haven't heard from you in awhile. Could this be from your biopsy incision site? My core biopsy was on March 3rd, and I have a lump on the incision site. I read up on it before I had the biopsy, and I did read that we might very likely have a lump or bump that will hang around for awhile and be irritable or painful. I wonder if that might be what you're feeling?
I also had a little bit of nausea, and that is getting better, but I don't know if that was as a result of the biopsy or not. My breast still is tender if it gets bumped, and the site where the biopsy was in still irritated.
I'm new to all of this, too, but I'm sure someone on here will have an answer for you!
Thinking of you,

Could it be the biopsy track that you are feeling? It does heal and scar tissue may have formed.

Thank you ladies for your responses.
@ wrinklequeen, my biopsies were on the outer quadrant of my breast. One biopsy went from the outside in towards the nipple. That was the 6oclock mass. The second biopsy went deep towards my chest wall. That lump you are referring to, is that directly at the incision site? My incisions healed up perfectly. It's just right under the nipple that is bothersome.
@inks-I've never heard of a biopsy track but that does make a lot of sense. So that would be scar tissue I'm feeling possibly? It certainly doesn"t feel like a lump, more like a long ridge. Does it ever go away at least the discomfort?
ETA: Nipple is incredibly sensitive right now and I can't help but think something is infected bc now brown "fluid" (very thick) came out. Have a regular visit with my primary on wednesday, plan to ask her about it.

My lump or bump is kind of at one end of the incision site. My breast is still pretty tender, in fact both breast are.
I'm sure you'll get some answers Wednesday!
Take care,

Well I went to see my dr and she is referring me to see a gyno. She doesn't have any idea what is going on with my breast. She stated that since I've been having problems since January and the fibroadenomas are not causing any of my symptoms, she is at a loss. So hopefully a gyno can figure something out. Went from having shooting and burning pain in breast, clear discharge, and redness to now brown discharge and nipple issues. I give up. This is a pain in the a$$. Actually it's a pain in the boob to be more specific. Maybe it will fall off, I'm really beginning to not like it anymore. At least my right one isn't trying to betray me.

Can anyone match my symptoms to anything? There is also a long indentation now along the biopsy side of my nipple, but only when my arms are raised. Just started today. I'm confused, bitter, and frustrated! What is going on with this thing??

I had a stereotactic biopsy completed just three weeks ago. Thankfully, a fibroadenoma. My breast was healing fine until this weekend where I think I may have overdone it in a yoga class. my breast is now very sore and tender. my nipple area has a hard and very tender lump behind it. My biopsy was very aggressive and deep. Bruising continues to clear except beneath nipple area. my breast is clearly swollen although I don't think the swelling ever really went down since biopsy. Is this normal? Has anyone had this experience?

Hi Sons3,
I just posted almost the exact same post today on another board. I am expirencing the same thing. The bruising, the pain and my breast tissue has harden. My tumor was at the 11 o'clock position and almost 2 inches deep. I wish I had answers for you but I am in the same boat.
