Kind of in disbelief

In the last 24 hours, I am getting the sharp bee sting pains (as some BC patients describe it) in my non cancer breast. I am kind of in shocked disbelief here. It is so bad, I can't get back to sleep. I even took a xanex to sleep last night. I have an appointment at the MO tomorrow. I guess I will see if they can image and or biopsy the spot. I didn't even want to mention it to my husband. HOw can it have gone from no pain at all to pain so bad I can't sleep in 24 hours?

Have you started chemo yet? I had all kinds of weird sensations during chemo.

Nope. Not started. I can't believe how sharp this pain is.

Trvler - sorry no sleep but I get that for sure! I had weird pins and needles on AC because the tumor was shrinking but nothing after AC. I am having stabbing pains now but that is from the rads. But that is my chest wall I had a mastectomy. What side is the pain on?

It's on the right side of the right breast. I can't feel a lump but I was reading about bilateral recurrence in ILC today and another poster said she felt sharp pains and no lump and it was +. I took some tylenol. I put ibuprofen in my mouth and took it out remembering they said to only take tylenol before and after the biopsy.

At least you see the MO tomorrow, make sure you let them know so they take it serious and check it out. I give them a list every time I see them. Sometimes I have things that just seem off, and they are really off to them or vice versa. You know your body the best. Sweet dreams, I hope! Good Luck with the MO, ask lots of questions, and take lots of notes!

Thanks, BB. I am going to be a zombie tomorrow. But I have the feeling this is going to be the first of many sleepless nights for a while.

The pain could have been there already, but the diagnosis has made you more aware of your body, so you can feel it now. Same boat as you, always sensitive breasts (hurt for days after one and only mammo), now have a lobular in the right breast (the least sensitive of the two). Over the last fortnight had been developing increasingly severe paresthesia right hand + neck pain: slipped cervical disc!!! Such good timing... Best wishes to you.

No, it wasn't there. This pain is really noticeable. I wouldn't have missed this. I don't have particularly sensitive breasts.

I hope you can get some relief.

HI, I read this and just want to respond because I remember those immediate days post dx and how scared I was every second of every minute. My guess is that it is nothing, honest! Most breast cancer doesn't appear with sudden intense pain. What I have had, since dx, in my right remaining breast, is painful cysts. I had one so bad that I had it biopsied even though the radiologist was certain it was nothing (most cysts look very different on sonograms.) She was right, it was a benign cyst. Of course I was a total wreck until I heard that, but just wanted to tell you this story. You are now on such a heightened state of anxiety that everything will make you nervous. But some things aren't always bad. Hope this makes you feel better. Of course, tell your MO about this! But wanted to make you feel better :)

You know, with all due respect to everyone who didn't have any pain with their cancer, I had pain with mine. I know this is NOT normal. I don't get cysts or pain like this. There is a whole thread of Did you have pain with your cancer and people say YES, they have sharp bee sting type pains which is exactly what this is. I appreciate all the people trying to reassure me, but when you have cancer already and yes, it hurts, you get kind of irritated when people say cancer doesn't 'present like that'.

So I went to the MO this morning. She gave me a hassle about not having all the imaging ( I had imaging also done somewhere else and they found more stuff on the cancer breast) and starting chemo before surgery. She also wouldn't give me an order for an ultrasound on the other side because the MRI one month ago didn't show anything. They didn't see anything on the cancer side EITHER nor did they find the cancer on the U/S. The found it in the biopsy. I didn't have sharp pains then either. God, the medical industry is making me f-ing crazy. I can't imagine what it's going to be like when I actually start treatment.
