I'm so sorry you have been diagnosed.

How were you diagnosed? - and do you think you will have surgery first or chemo? It might depend if you are having any other scans - e.g. CT, bone scan, MRI etc. Also the details of your diagnosis - e.g. what stage you are

When I was diagnosed, I was concerned I wasn't sent to oncologist immediately and waited for almost 2 weeks (I was having Chemo first) but my surgeon (who diagnosed me) said they would keep me busy in the meanwhile with various tests, whose results would be useful in my treatment.

You could call the surgeons office to see if you can get an earlier appointment, if only to reduce the time you have to wait and reduce any anxiety. Hope this helps.

What was your DX? The time frame for needing to get into TX varies with different types. Surgery may not be the first TX - neoadjuvant Chemo is sometimes the first TX.

Dear Nancedanser, welcome to BCO but sorry you are here because of diagnosis. What have they told you so far, are there more tests you need to complete? The delay may be for valid reasons of more tests or just long waiting lists. It varies upon where you are and severity.

The more information on type, size, stage, all have a bearing upon how people will respond as they tend to respoind to those of similar conditions.

    We wish you the best

I would call to see if they can get you in earlier. I was just diagnosed this past Sunday. I go to see my surgeon this Monday. I don't think I would be in a good mental state if I had to wait three weeks, one week is bad enough.

That is good news. You are spared those weeks of waiting, which is a great. Keep busy and try not to research too much before your appointment. Until you know yourpathology and exact treatment then you might get overloaded. It does gets better, once you have and a plan in place for treatment you will feel better in control. Best wishes Sarah
