My sister is at stage 4

I dont know all that much about breast cancer, but I am quickly learning, my sister was diagnosed in Feburary, and has a very aggressive cancer, it grew to the size of a baseball before she even knew what was going on, the breast was removed and she started chemo and radation for 6 weeks, they did a body scan and it came back that it had spread to her lungs, ribs, and liver, they gave her six months to a year, that was in april, she is fighting this cancer, she is 42, and has 7 children. She is currently going thru clincal trials, the tumors in her lungs have gotten a little smaller, but the ones in her liver are spreading and growing, and there are now tumors starting on her hip. We are all hopeing and praying for a miracle. Has anyone ever heard of someone at this stage getting better????

Yes. Do not give up hope. I am a Stage IV patient myself. Age 45, single mom of two...please do this for you and your sister:

    Go to: www.bcmets@bcmets.org

That's a listserv for all Stage IV bc women. Post to the list that you are new, give your sister's history and pathology if you can. For example, is she ER/PR/HER2+ or negative? People who respond will ask what she's on, what she's been on, etc...and you will get plenty of feedback...

Anything can happen. There is so much information and experience on that list. I'm a member there, also.

As you know Stage IV is incurable, but the disease can be controlled. Let's get your sister stable! I will pray for you and her and her entire family.

Please at least try the list I recommended. We have all kinds of professionals there that know so much and are up on the latest and greatest.

My best to you and your sister in this very difficult time...Mena...xo
