Chiropractic neck adjustments with a port?

I'm getting my port in on Thursday and I was also planning on scheduling a chiropractic appointment for late next week. But then it hit me that it might not be a good idea to have the DC cracking my neck with a catheter threaded in there. Anyone have experience with this or any thoughts on this?

I've always had chiro adjustments, had them before and right after port input, during treatment, etc. without any issue. Of course, my chiro doesn't just "crack" or manually adjust the area, he also uses other low force techniques that help with different circumstances. In my case having my adjustments regularly made all the difference because I believe they helped boost my immune system throughout tx.

    Good luck with everything! :)

Thank you PinkEst! I think I'll try to get in today before the port goes in and then I'll wait a few weeks to make sure I'm not having any trouble with it.

I think I'd try to get in before the port is put in and then give a while (week or 2) before having another adjustment to allow the area to heal without any possible stress/pull/stretch, if possible.

I had never had a chirp appt til this last Sept but decided to give it a try. I did 2 appts a week for 6 weeks, then weekly for a few weeks, am now on every other week and will soon move to monthly (unless something happens) for 'maintainance'. My port had been in for 5 yrs when I started the adjustments so it was well healed. My Dr does not get 'rough' when he adjusts me - I have a lot of arthritis in my upper back and neck AND osteoporosis - so he is a bit 'gentler' with manual adjustments or uses a 'thumper thingy' (sorry can't remember the right name for it).

Now that you are starting Chemo be sure to let you Chirp Dr know this. As I am told by my Dr - the more he knows about what is going on gives him insight in to more of what is going on and what is needed for full body care.

(I'm 'weird' to still have my port in after 5yrs and NED. It's my choice and my PA agrees with my theory for keeping it. Won't go into that here as it in not 'important' at all on this subject. If anyone wants to know - PM me and I'll explain)
