Chevy, it must be the weather, my cousin made a pot of it today too. Unfortunately, it was really hot when she served it to me in my recliner, the bowl on a chinet plate which proceeded to buckle and spill half the bowl on my arm, burning it. No, I don't have enough misery today, thanks, just that rotting skin on my chest from the rads, oh, and there's that whole arthritis/fibro thing. I'm just going to retire.

When I was young I had a major case of chronic suicidal depression. Outgrew it in my 30's. It was an addictive coping mechanism then. But tbh, there have been a bunch of times since this began that I have just prayed it would be over. And I'm only stage 3. Rose, I truly do understand. When is enough too much?

Magdalene51, sorry about your arm, just what you don't need is anything else burning today. I can't stop itching today from rads. Thankfully I only have 4 more.

When is enough too much? I guess when the person carrying the burden decides it is. I get it, and one day I will have to choose when I have had enough. I just hope I know when to pick.

Ibgal- yes, the Vice segment was certain was encouraging. I was struck by the one comment one researcher said about cancer being like 300 kinds of disease. And that they may be finally finding some things that get rid of this crap once and for all.

Mags- you have been to hell and back a few times through this. No doubt you have not had some dark days along the way. I am glad you are almost done. Better days are coming.

Calling for freezing rain tonight. YUCK!

Here is the info on the Ken Burns documentary on cancer in case it is coming on your local PBS channel too in March. I love his work and think he will do the subject justice.

My tangerine tree story. It's kinda long, get comfy.

Back in the late 70s, we were vacationing here. DH(dumb) decided we would buy some trees and take them back to Cinti. A 6' Palm, a Washingtonian palm, and a dwarf tangerine tree. Put them in a south window, in front of the heat. Palms died right away. Put the tangerine out for the summer.

My parents moved here first. We brought the tree back to Fl and put it in their yard. They moved again, we moved the tree again.

When we bought our house, we moved the poor tree AGAIN!

So it liked where it was, and produced mega amounts of yummy tangerines.

Then we had 2 years of hurricanes, a crappy cold winter, the poor thing started to die. Darn near broke my heart, after all it had been through.

They were so good, my mom went out to get some, with her walker, tripped over something, fell, broke her hip.

I have been lurking off and on. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to make the decision to end treatment. Many of you gals have gone thru so much. But it all comes down to our own individual feelings, thoughts and beliefs.
I love the soup Chevy, wish I could just pop on over. But southern California is not just a hop, skip, and a jump away from Colorado. Plus, OMG.....it's cold where you are. Your yard is covered in snow..brrrrrrr.
Don't know if I mentioned that my refrigerator is getting ready to go out. Its been slowly going out for awhile now. Its growling at me loudly...it's probably 10 plus years old. I'm looking at getting a refrigerator with a bottom freezer and French doors on the top refrigerator part. I don't want a ice dispenser in the door, so that should save me some money. Also, I want white. So probably be out looking this next week.
My 3 dogs are all doing well. All they do is eat and sleep. I've been battling a stomach bug seems like 2 months now. Its making me tired. Might have to get that checked. I have routine blood test Monday and see my oncologist on March 17.
Just wanted to pop in and send hugs to all of you.

Rose - I certainly understand you. When I was in the hospital last time ( for 10 days!) far from my DH and DS (my extended family is all in Europe and DH 's family is on the East coast) I hit the bottom. I was in pain or dizzy, foggy and with slurred speech because of the painkillers. I was swollen with all the fluid accumulation in lungs and in legs up to my waist, connected to draining tubes. I couldn't breath well, sleep well and going to the restroom was hell. At that time if somebody had offered me some means to end it I would have taken it. My deepest desire after diagnosed was to fight for as long as I could to be with my son who is very young, but in those deep dark moments in the hospital I just wanted the suffering to end. I am so so sorry about your suffering.

But, hey, I didn't mean to ruin all the fun with my overly serious post (I think most of mine are sooooo serious, hard to believe I'm a fun girl :) If it makes anybody feel better (wink wink) the tangerines are completely inedible! They're sour as lemons! Probably not enough water and/or fertilizer. So they fall on the ground and squirrels would eat them (sometimes). And I can only use so many of them instead of lemons .....I tried one year to make marmalade and all I managed was to ruin my creuset pot (cause I forgot it on the stove and went gardening) and it it burned so badly I couldn't even rescue the pot!

jazzy - I heard about the Ken Burns documentary. I heard it's very good. I read the Emperor of Maladies last year. It's an easy read but it depends whether one wants to read about cancer or not. I certainly avoided it for a long time. So I'm curious if the film has anything extra.

I'm glad I read 'Emperor' years ago, as it was fascinating and very well written. Now, however, I really don't think I could stand to read it - it would just be too painful.

Magdalene & BeachB - so sorry about the burns and itching. How awful.

lbgal - your tangerine tree reminds me of the picking avocados from a tree in So. Cal as a kid - my parents were visiting friends from grad school who taught at UCLA and they had this huge avocado tree in their back yard. We thought it was SO cool that they encouraged us to pick from their tree. I also remember picking up a copy of 'The Feminine Mystique' from a side table and starting in on it while the adults were visiting, which generated an interesting conversation with my mom later on...

Rosie - wish things were vastly different for you. Sometimes control of your own life, taking control back from the cancer, means taking things into your own hands. But sometimes, just knowing that you can if you want to is enough. Be as true as you can to yourself and act from there. (As if you need any advice from me, right?)

No more talk about this it's taken all the fun out. Had a huge fall out with D-H.. enough aggravation for one day. I snapped! I can count how many times that has happened in 29 years. Now back to snow balls, pole dancing, how to draw tulips on snow banks and life as we live it. (medicine, insurance, glass ware, quilting and animals!!!) Chevy where is your other sparing partner?? Your soup looks yummy.. fresh bread and volia! Dinner.

Smarty we still haven't seen any quilts from the show... can't you sneak a peek to us? We need to hear from those in Texas, unless their power is out. :-) If Ohio and the Mid West can keep the power on, Texas should be able too! patty are you lurking? Back home?

    Be warm and safe owlettes.

Ibgal- I am going to watch it, although it premiers on 3/30 here in NM on KNME, and I am flying back from the west coast that evening. So I will have to catch one of the reruns that usually follow the weeks after (like the Roosevelts did, my fav of the Ken Burns series to date).

Pawprint- glad you popped in to say hi and glad you are doing okay. I hope your blood test goes well and doctor apt in March also goes okay too.

Rosie, shall we taunt them with photos of our gorgeous day here? It's probably safe to do so since cyber snow balls aren't as nearly as cold, wet and nasty as the real thing.

here's some pics. Sorry, a few are a little blurry. This is a sewing show, so all kinds of supples, materials, etc for almost all hobbies. Plus classes to take. Biggest show of its kind in the west. We have sold out of the book and 2 of the patterns we are selling. Have to take orders and then ship. Been fun but very tiring also and my cold hasn't helped that any.

Morning gals! SMARTY! THOSE ARE ALL MADE BY HAND, OR HOW DO YOU GET THE PICTURES??? Is it pictures transferred onto iron-on material, and then sewn by hand/machine?

I am just baffled... I mean I'm over here just trying to do menial things, and YOU are over there showing the world your crafts and stuff! I'm impressed! To say the least!

Is it embroidery? Or just what are you doing there? And are they quilted, or wall hangings? They are all just beautiful!!!!!!!

Peppermint! WHAT DID YOU DO???????? I'm wondering how you can still sound happy, with all that going on with you.... And what is Big V and little D.... or what is it that you said? Ah geez.... wish you could find a better way to SLEEP! They are going to have a room reserved for you!

And no Hopeful... I'll just keep bombarding you guys with snow pictures....

Ha! Oh? You are getting Rosie in on your shenanigans too? Aren't you two up in the Pacific NW?

Hah! That's funny what you said MamaRay..... Haaaaaaaah! About Ibgal's picture! By the way....! What IS this Ibgal stuff stand for? Okay.... spill the beans.....

MAGS!!!!!!!!! They are trying to kill you! That's all! Don't hang around them no more! Might as well have poured it into a baggy, and said "HERE".

Oh wow... so glad you got over that "urge"...... sheesh! That would scare me. It just might creep up on you again.... but it isn't "enough" until we say so..... okay?

Ah Beaches..... No...... not yet..... But I truly understand you guys.... that are going through so much... I know we can't hang on forever, nor would we want to.... but wait..... I might want to.... So far, so good.... but I understand.

Oh no SPOOKIE! What are you telling us this stuff for? About your Mom and her falling over her damn walker and broke her damn hip?

See, that kind of stuff scares me... !! So I guess that means you don't have that stupid tree anymore?

Okay, get this... "MY TREE STORY".... These people moved out... no actually .... oh never mind... One morning I looked out doors, and it was snowing... (like that is something new here)... And I went outdoors to get the paper... And saw this little green plant thing in the curb... with snow falling all over it... It was shivering and wilting! So I carefully picked up that little pot, and brought it in, and gave it warmth and a loving home.

Then DD came from Orlando one time, and she packed that little Meyer Lemon Tree in her bags, and took it home with her... You canNOT grow any kind of Citrus fruit tree HERE in this CLIMATE!

That tree is HUGE! Out back in her yard on the golf-course! And I feel like it's Grandmother! And the Lemons are delicious... the end.

Oh LittlePaws said Hop Skip and JUMP! Like we can all do that! We don't need no refrigerator! We just set things outdoors... If we don't want them to freeze, we set them in this Coleman cooler out there....

Problem solved. So we have an immense refrigerator IN here, AND out THERE! Glad your pups are doing well...

What is wrong with your stomach? Have you tried Aloe Vera??? Mixed in with your tea, or smoothies, or just plain? It will really HELP any kind of digestive ailment... I know this for a fact....

Okay Ib's.... I think I can understand what you are saying..... I guess you just get to that point.... But I understand........

WAIT! HOLD ON ONE SECOND HERE! See you guys, SHE says those damn Tangerines are not any good! And she ruined her POT! Hah! So there...! You other gals must be growing something else.... Like maybe Ki-wi's or something ...

Yes, even EYE know that the soil and water PH make a difference... My folks had the sweetest lemon tree in their back yard, near San Francisco...

A hot cup of tea, with some of that Lemon, with a warm piece of San Francisco Sour Dough bread with butter! Mmmmmmmmmmmm!

Hopeful.... that was a sweet post to Rosie.... It made a lot of sense...

And then so Rosie comes on here, and has had a knock-down-drag-out with her DH! Are you guys better now? Do I have to come out there and straighten things out? I CAN, you know!

And I don't know where Cammi is! You guys will have to do until she EVER decides to come back.... Ha!

That wasn't MY soup! I got that from Google Images, and I didn't use red-onions in mine... Mine had Leeks....! So I can't take credit for that picture. But I will if you want me to.... Ha!

Morning Jazzy and Dutchess! Miami is getting flooded Maddy? I didn't see that....

Okay.... guess I'm done causing enough trubble for one morning! BBL!!!

I so want to find the bleepity-bleep who woke everyone in my house @ 2 a.m. and knock the daylights out of them. Didn't get back to sleep til around 3:30.

Cranky because of that and the fact I haven't had my coffee yet, its hubby's job to make the coffee on the weekend. He made sure that he got his, still waiting for mine! Looks like if I want my coffee, I'll have to get it myself! You know they name streets after people who do this sort of thing: One Way

Update : still in hospital. Think this is day 10 or 11. Can't keep up with the day. Friday was so dehydrated was seizing even though I've been on iv anti nausea meds for like 9 days. But the sun is shining outside ( finally ) and today is a new day. Looking forward to the future and not focusing in the present. Reading everyone post that there is still life out there is very encouraging.

Shout out and hugs to all

Beach, the no ice on the mastectomy site is b/c it's numb. Hot or cold should never be applied to a numb area b/c it can cause tissue damage. Similarly, if there is peripheral neuropathy of the hands or feet----no hot or cold. With the lotion that Spookie suggested. The RO approved. What he did was look at (spookie ?) it. With products having long list of ingredients, the RO should be familiar with anything that may cause the radiation to behave differently if a residue is left on the skin i.e. petroleum residue. Hope,  you got some itch relief?

Mags, you should be boosting now? LOL Boosting, different meaning in the criminal world.

Jazzy, the insurance / business sites are where insurance or businesses check on financials and hazards etc of other companies or areas. I wanted to find the sinkhole status in my county and in Florida. Found one of the web sites. Can't get into it YET. I haven't given up. The other is A_Z financials. It'd be used to access solvency of a company. I'm guessing it may be a site that some one investing might use i.e Morningstar.
