Lighter breast form for swimsuit

I had a bilateral mastectomy a few years ago and I have silicone forms that I wear with regular clothes. However, they are hot and uncomfortable and I generally don't like wearing them to the beach or when exercising. We will be visiting a beach soon and I was shopping for mastectomy swimsuits. Can anyone recommend a breast form that would be lightweight and not get hot and sticky (or at least not as much) like the silicone forms?

I know some women use  the shower puffs. Waterproof & super light. Who would have thought.

Hello Hsm,Welcome to BCO! There is a thread on the boards which is "all things bras and prosthesis" which has a lot of information on many different forms and clothing etc.

There are a number of swim forms and leisure forms available. Probably the most common ones we discuss here are the Amoena Swimform, which is a clear silicone which doesn't show through a swimsuit. It is about the same weight as your normal form and can get a bit sticky in the warm weather. There is a micro bead filed form by Tru Life called Aqua Flo which dries quickly and can be worn as a leisure form when you don't want to wear your normal silicone form. There is another very popular leisure form, from Tru Life which is a weighted foam breast form, It isn't something you can wear in a swimsuit, but it is very comfortable in an athletic crop bra top or tank. Take a look at metromedicalonline, they are probably one of the least expensive sites have great sales and they sell each of these forms.

There is a site called mastectomysolutions.org which is run by a lovely lady named Mary, she has patterns for making your own micro bead forms, or she will do it for you and post for a very nominal amount. They work well in a swimsuit.T

The shower puff method that 70 charger mentioned, is to unravel the puff, then wind it loosely around your hand to make the size you want. They do work, but the lack of weight can be an issue, especially if you don't have a pocketed suit. They can ride up and out of your suit!

All the best, just ask if you have any other questions, there are many of us who have done lots of research on different forms and clothing.

Just wanted to give a shout out to http://www.nicolajane.com They are a British company, so take note, UK ladies.

They do have stores in Chichester and in London (and possibly another, not sure), but you can also order online, and that includes overseas locations! They sent me a catalogue today, as I have twice visited and bought bras and weighted foam prosthetics. I find the prices very reasonable compared with anything I have found in Canada.

If you live in the UK, or have a chance to visit, it is certainly worth it, to be properly assessed and measured for prosthetics, mastectomy wear and swimsuits in a private and friendly, compassionate environment.

Also, the mail order catalogue and online store both have full instructions re measurements and fitting, and there is no problem with returns (free in the UK!)

Unique see-through breast forms designed for use in the harsher conditions of salt water, swimming pools and hot tubs. Lighter weight makes these breast forms excellent for very active dancing, jogging and other high energy activities. With the use of swim suit and bikini of various website ,breast form will be in a good way.
