GOOD MORNING OWLIES, yes, anyone wanting to come for a sleep over is welcome. Even a few nights sleepover. Most beautiful month in Florida is April. Not to cool, not to hot. The doors and windows open. Up north folks find the pool is not too cold. No hurricane troubles. The weather is just stunning in April. Spookie and Phyliss came last April. In light of the fact that the weather is just gorgeous in April, a visit invitation is extended to any Owlies that want to come. I'll pick you up at the airport. I have beds for 7. The van seats 7. Try for a +- 7pm arrival time that way you won't be traveling in the middle of the night leaving your home base. An afternoon departure +- 3 pm figuring that at Orlando you need to be there 2 hours ahead.. I will send the DBF away during our visit. The air, sky, and weather is wonderful in April for recovering from ice & snow. Hope this works

Rosie, I counted 28 NCCN centers. You are right they are not evenly distributed. You could trip over them in the northeast. RE: the glass collecting. Only one set was collected for a year and then gifted. Mistake was I should of asked them if they liked the pattern and had storage. They are in Tampa and their house is small. Didn't think of that till it was all done. The other three picked their patterns. I then thrifted the pattern pieces. That made it fun b/c I could still look for pieces, but they went out the door quickly. Except for DS, his just went to his place recently.
Checking with PHyliss on April. Spookie, I know your in.
Chevy the box made it to the post office. But the post office was no longer there. It moved.
Making phone calls.

how is PHYLLIS? And we need to get chevy on a plane too!!!! Anybody else
-
Chevy- oh those slippers remind me of a great story from my gym. A couple years ago, I was at the pool doing laps one evening and in walks this blonde bombshell in a white bikini and matching white feather slippers (like the ones above). I was doing laps and when I stopped to take a break, not a sound could be heard as the men in the pool area had just stopped and stared in complete silence. I had to start swimming again to keep from LOL.
Later, I was in the hot tub and she was there with some folks she came in with. She was clearly speaking in a spanish accent that was more south american. Venezuelan or Argentinan was my guess. Having been to VZ, the women there are drop dead good gorgeous and dress like that at the pool. She seemed like she was not even paying attention to the reactions going on around her.
If I can give you a visual, it would be like Charo showing up at the pool. She was very blonde!

Rose, sorry, but pleased that the new PCP is a keeper!
Foots prayers continue to be a comfort for Me and Family!!

ohhhhhhhhhhh I want one
-
Chevy, Thank You! I wish I could send this to every person that tells me how good I look.

-
I will come! I have an airline voucher to use up or its money down the drain. April it is! When I get done today at the show I'll check out the airline. I hope frontier goes to Orlando.
Rose, I'll take some pics today and post later. Wet and cold in seattle today. The weather reports said in was suppose to be justThursday.
Chevy, when that snows starts to melt, ship it to us girls here in California. You could charge a lot for that stuff.

Hopeful802- Where do you go for Cancer care? If you are in Oregon there aren't any NCCN centers to choose from. Yes having DWD is a plus and there are only 3 states that do. Something to keep I think, I have thought about moving but my health is so iffy I kind of think it's pointless. I am not a very good patient because I just hate the side effects and have a low tolerance for the meds. no motivation any more.
Mammaray- my kids are 21,19, 13. Won't be easy but they are capable and independent and will manage. DH is good with them.
Chevy- you crack me up. Your sense of humor is WONDERFUL!
Wish I had the $ to go to the Florida sleep over in April. I loved the beaches and wetlands in Jacksonville ... Oregon is pretty but the white powdery beaches and soothing lapping of the waves.. watching pelicans fly by in Florida, yep it's mighty fine. Most of all Florida is sunny and I feel 100% better when it's sunny which it rarely is in Oregon. Lots of birds in Florida and I LOVE watching birds. I am easily amused... simple pleasures for simple minds. :-) Gotta get busy and finish paining my DD desk. It needs one more coat. I was going to reapply stain to the top but there are so many scratches and marks I think painting it a contrasting color might look and cover better. My DD picked out the cutest multicolored china nobs from World Market.. great design. It will look great when it's finished.
Stay warm.

It's funny, I feel that even though I have never met any of you, you guys fell like the best girlfriends a girl could have. It makes me sad to see someone go, but I certainly understand the choice. When my dad had lung cancer he did one round of treatment for my sister, than said no more. He did die peacefully at home, which is all he wanted.
We will keep all here in good spirits as best we can until the end!
(Ps, that's me, 4 from the left end

Smarrty, don't know about Orlando, pretty sure about tampa. If TIA I'll pick you up
-
Yay Smarrty. I tried to check Frontier from Sacremento to Orlando. You must fly out of somewhere else? Yay Spookie , okey dokey ---we have a party. Done deal.
HIO haven't forgotten your glass, spent a few hours and nothing was popping. Forgot what you said in RE; doing stem. If you could repeat it so I don't have to try and find it. pages moving fast.

Sas, when you posted the link to Miss America, I thought one of my relish trays resembled it, but just went back & looked again, no, not even close.
Do you know anything about when the pieces get that purpleish tint ? I know it's from age, the 2 candy dishes I posted have it, and I have a small vases ( got at a auction years ago ) has it. I used to go to local auctions, loved it. But after so many, prices were not as good as thrifting, such a time suck.
I am working on using my left arm as much as possible, but not lift any weight. It is a PITA.
Smaarty, love your last image of friends. I feel the same way, you all are the best !
HOOTIE HOO, PATTY P..... Are you home ? sending positive healing, wishes....

Janie picked up her box from Orlando, came over here, and we had a fun "late" Birthday for her! She ditched work, she opened her box from her Sister in Orlando, and found out she is going to AC/DC in San Francisco in September with Sheri, AND one of our Grand-sons! They will have a party.... constantly! Bunch of other gifts in the box, and we had Guacamole with chips and Champagne!
Her T-shirt says "HEADED TO CALI".... We all loved San Francisco.... So many memories going there to see my folks, and then again with my girls, staying on Fisherman's Wharf, and driving down Highway 101 to Monterey.... Yaaaaaaaaaay!

I'm just dreamin'.....

** THIS IS NOT MANDATORY IN ANY WAY:
Also, if for any reason you would like to provide contact information in case you are away from Insomniacs for a period of time and don't want us to worry about you, please PM that info. We've had some ladies go MIA and we're concerned and have no way to contact them in most situations.
If you choose not to provide info, that's perfectly fine, it is not necessary to post comments on this thread or send me a PM to that effect. This is ONLY if you want to provide contact info. (Would appreciate any negative comments not to be made as this isn't required, if you don't wish to participate, then you don't need to.)

I have been lurking on this thread, just can't keep up and don't know what to post (that's why it's so much easier for me to post on W&F). I appreciate Chevy's earlier post: "You should step in my shoes and walk a mile. Then maybe you'll see how hard it is to hold back tears and fake a smile."
Smaarty, I started crying earlier today when I read your post about the friendships here, that pretty much sums it up for me too.
Love you all like family!!!
-
2nd, And we love you back! Sorry things are bad for you right now. Hoping they improve soon. Hugs.
-
Chevy, I loved that one hot tub layout but this last one? It really takes the cake. Do you deliver and install?

Rosie - I have coverage under Providence with a few providers covered at OHSU, Legacy and a couple other treatment groups, as well as St. V's and Providence in the city. My BS is with Legacy and she walks on water, in my opinion. I'm really lucky to have been directed to her. My MO is o.k. and since I don't see her a lot that's fine. I'm struggling with the RO issue and just about ready to say I'll skip that step. I'm really happy with my BS and the services her office gives access to but can't say that I'm impressed with the level and choice of cancer treatment in this state. I think OHSU (and Phil Knight's quest to put it on the map) are playing outside their league. As is the case in so many instances in this state, they think they are much hotter, much more significant than they are. (Just my .02 worth... Feel free to disagree or disabuse me of that notion.)
Can't make it to Sassy's in April because I think I'm going to bite the bullet and have surgery that week. Unless I find a good excuse to put it off. Not so concerned about surgery (oddly) but dragging my heels about radiation...
We are having the most perfect late Feb. weather (for Oregon) imaginable. Light rain, puffy clouds, buds swelling, and no east wind. It could stay like this for the next 2 months and I wouldn't mind. I feel almost guilty, knowing what 4/5s of the rest of the country is experiencing.
I should go get some work done...
-
HIO- that purplish tint is from pieces being exposed to sun. i.e in a window. No idea how long it takes to cause it. But it can't be reversed. From a collectible stand point --the collectors that are like dog show ring people----it destroys collectible value. I learned about it after thrifting a pitcher that was purpling. My attitude was then as now. 1.If you like it, 2. you have a use for it, 3. price is right --buy it. I gave pitcher to DS with explanation, simply b/c he needed one.
Some pieces can be so purpled that they have an amethyst color. My teacher @ the time (google source) said to watch for sellers trying to say it is amethyst color for a particular maker>.pattern. With your pieces you enjoy them, don't think twice about the purpling.
On your pieces, the relish that has the straight starburst pattern. I said "I've seen you, who are you". I talk to the dishes. Perhaps I shouldn't say that, some would think rubber room time.
Talked with Phyliss, she can't come. She won't be done with or just finishing radiation. Then she's having her gallbladder out. The GB buggar has been a problem for weeks. She's had several attacks. Everyone's hoping she can get through radiation and then have it out.
Spookie tell Scott to be available Tues and Thurs. Haven't looked for the file yet, but I would have to be brain dead to throw away a teaching file. I'll drive either to your place Mon. night or Steve's. Scott and I can work on Tues. He can work on practicing Wed. I'll come back on Thurs. Two days are seriously better than one. Trust me. Tell him the stars are aligned.
Didn't catch up on last page BBL out to dinner YAY:)
-
2/27- back from my day out and about. It is STILL snowing here and more accumulation expected tonight. Unlike the east coast, most of us want this moisture. People still drive like the roads are dry though! It was a sheet of ice out there this morning.
2nd time- I am here and doing okay. Been doing networking and biz meetings for a new contract so sometimes not here as often.
I am really sorry things are so hard. You and I have talked before about elder care stuff, and know how hard it is. I helped my parents with their end of life health challenges that went on from my 20s until just a few years ago (4 of the 4 decades so far). I am sorry about the financial stuff, and all the rest with your DD. Cancer treatment is expensive and know many have gone into bankruptcy because of all that followed (cost of treatment, lost income, etc.)
I am sending you love and energy and praying your days get better. Sending you a big vitual hug. Sometimes lurking and not posting is best when you are not up to sharing so lurk away.....
Sassy- thank you for the invite to the April sleep over, but won't be able to make it with work things coming up, but if I am ever out your way, I am going to find you and Spookie for a dinner somewhere!
-
Check your pm
-
So sorry, Jazzy, Hopeful, Rosie, Did I say Florida is beautiful in April.... LOL It's as close to Paris as 'm ever going to get. It was a bit damp a few days last year in April, but that was a first. Hope this whole weather change doesn't mess with April. I went to write the week of the 28th. Inner voice( my inner voice said uhuh..) Always pay close attention to you inner voices, unless they are weird.2 PM..................
Chevy.. a completely good reason to tag on a visit to Sherrie and DGS's..........Sherie would say MOM YOU SHOULD COME.
Patty,P, Susan, Litllegoats, Beachside & Mommy-no ice-promise except in drinks.............. If I forgot anyone..... don't think of that.
This is a spur of the moment thought to do it. Right... sometimes a spur of the moment reaction is needed to. Chose Tues travel b/c travel to Orlando is basically Sun and Sat. Mondays are big work travel day. Tues rates hopefully are lower.
-
jazzy, found a seriously legit site where the insurance industry checks stability of everything. And another site. I registered on one and it gives the financials A-Z.. the other is on all things important for insurance ratings..........I may not have access b/c I'm not business. Not sure of your consulting business, but Pm if you want site names.
-
I did see on theirmap that they fly into Orlando, but I have to go to San francisco. Their website isn't working right on my iPad, so I'll. Heck later about flights.
-
God bless You all that are facing weather challenges
I wish we all could meet in a harm dry place and give
hugs and support to each other. But I know we cant so I am praying
for You all to be safe in His arms of warmth and love. Footprintsangel
