Why are they afraid of me?

I love the name gentianviolet, used to swab my babies mouths when they got thrush..

Sometimes we just have to chalk it up to people are strange animals..

SCLisa - My mother used gentian violet on all the scrapes my brothers and I encountered when young. I loved the sound of the words, somewhat exotic, particularly to a child. Dad would embellish with a Q Tip and draw purple cats and dogs on our arms and legs. It was like a tattoo in the 1940's and seemed to take weeks to wear off. Yes, people are strange, and I am sure many have said that about me too.

Trvler - Yes, I guess there is a happy ending. After months and months of not really emailing nor speaking on the phone, she called one day and said she would answer any of my questions. I asked and she gave me answers. She is still very tight lipped and does not want to speak of fear or anxiety about scans, so I don't share what I use to. But we now speak often and email several times a week........only we just hardly ever speak of breast cancer. So we still are close but in a very different way and I guess this is her best way of dealing with it all.

Raider - I so agree with the way you put it.........she does not want to be in any way connected with breast cancer, past or present, who knows whether she will accept it in the future.

By now I hope some of your friends have given you comfort. I recognize that it can be difficult to know what to say, but just a hug would work (cyber or real with no need to say anything) to ease the loneliness.
