My crazy hair

It has been a crazy journey. 15 months ago, I was diagnosed with Stage II with treatment starting by removing the tumor. Right before surgery, the doc noticed swelling under my armpit and changed the plan to inserting a port and sending me for another biopsy, then PET Scan. Everything escalated. My BC was growing and spreading fast, all in a matter of two weeks. I was now diagnosed with Stage IIIc, but the onc told me that due to the time of the PET and him giving me the news, he was confident that my BC had already elevated to Stage IV. He looked concerned and told me there was no time to do more tests; I needed treatment now. It was a good that the surgeon caught the little bit of swelling. From heavy duty chemo, to double mastectomy, to rads, to infections, to hospital stays... it was a roller coaster. I was so busy being sick and getting well, I didn't pay much attention to my hair. Heck, I knew it would eventually grow back, but now that I am nearing the end of my treatment, my hair is growing and, well, very gray.

I didn't want to post pictures of my baldness here; heck, I don't even want to think about being gray! But here it is, growing back and gray. Now that I am feeling better, I notice my hair. Dying my hair would be a step in my new normal. Though, my stylist had other ideas. She recommended that I wait until my scalp had time to heal and improve before dying my hair or it would thin or fall out again. While there will always be a new normal, dying my hair will be my real normal and my first step to getting my life back.
