my BIL is always in the sun, and he swears by this stuff. It gives me instant relief, yes, who knew??? Passing it on in case it can help anyone else. The other stuff just did not do much for me.
Good news, I am feeling much better today. Not so much heat coming off. So much happier! That is good for all, maybe we will heal up fast from rads.
I really love reading the posts, perspectives, experiences of everyone. It helps to know we are not alone, and every step of the way our sisters are here. So incredible to have the support and safe place to cry, vent, post victories big and small, whatever we need at that moment.

Whew! I agree Coyote there has been a whole lot going on. I've been following with not enough energy to join in. I think all the babysitting of the three grandsons last week took more out of me than I thought.
Thanks Coyote for all you do for all of us. Welcome to those just starting rads. Congrats to those who have made it through. The beauty of this website for me is that I got to hear about the good, the bad and the ugly. No one has to feel alone in this fight. There are no stupid questions and often more than one right answer. Bless you all!
As far as CT goes I had one for my initial planning and one to plan my boosts. Yesterday I got the sharpie drawings. When they were done they took pictures and measurements and told me not to worry if they came off with washing or creams. They explained everything before they did it. I am really grateful for my techs. The other day they told me that I was getting so good that they were just going to let me tell them when I was in the right position! Just 5 more regular treatments and then 5 boosts and I'm done. My ro recommended the hydrocortisone too. It does seem to help. I still only have the one small blister and a very red breast. It is sore by Friday but much improved by Monday when it starts all over again.
Have a restful healing weekend everyone. We just gotta hang in there.

Cactus Juice? Sounds a lot like tequila to me. I'm on board for that, and I've been finished with rads since mid-December!
WndrWoman ~ I accept your wishes with gratitude. It's been a labor of love and I will sincerely miss the connection when we are all completed ~ but happy for us all of course.

I am 11 treatments in to my radiation
-
Keri71-You are almost to the mid point! How many treatments are you having? Hope everything is going well!
-
Keri71, welcome to the group. How is it going so far?
Bippy, glad you found something soothing and helpful! Thanks for sharing the tip.
I'm done with 7 so far, and so far things are fine.
-
Last treatment was on Wednesday!!!
My DH drove me to nearly every one. He and my daughter were teary eyed in the waiting room surrounded by the entire staff when I danced out for the last time. Balloons, sparkling cider and hugs. Surprise party at work with more hugs, balloons, cake and flowers. Beautiful dinner with family this weekend. I am loved and cancer-free.
-
9 Rad treatments down - two weeks in. 16 more rads to go -- 3 more weeks. Uneventful so far. Shoulders are just sore. Have excerises from PT and have another PT appt tomorrow. Congrats to everyone who has finished.
-
Keri71 ~ welcome to the Winter Warrior group. I hope all is going well with your treatments and you are experiencing no significant side effects. I put your name on the list with a starting date of Feb 6th. If that needs corrected, please let me know.
lescover ~ Hooray and congratulations. It sound like you are surrounded by lots of love and great support. That is heart warming and exactly the way it should be. I joyfully added the smiley to your name on the list. More hugs to you.
-
Lescover - congrats! Sounds like a great celebration.
-
lescover- congrats on finishing your rt! It must feel great to be done. You are loved by your family and friends! I will be done this Wednesday with mine! It will be nice not making that trek everyday. I plan on going to the gym on Thursday afternoon and get back into my workout routine. It will be nice to wear deodorant and a bra again too!
-
lescover Thanks for sharing your wonderful celebrations. So glad you have that love and support around you. Way to go!

LAST ONE TODAY!!!!

Congrats to all who have made it and you go Bippy! I found that last day to be really emotional. Such a journey.

Have a super wonderful day, Bippy!

Bippy625. I can hear your celebratory cheers all the way in RI. You made it!
-
Going Morning Ladies! This is the last week of February!! Spring is just around the corner, and the end of rads is coming. I have #20 today, and I have a rash on my chest, and the armpit is pretty red. Looks pretty tanned otherwise. I'll be glad to get this behind me. I hope everyone had a great weekend. Now it's Game On for 5 more days. We got this!
-
Hey Farmerma and SunntSideUp, we all had our first treatment today. Uneventful for me, I did follow everyone's advice and slathered up with aloe before getting dressed. Does anyone know why they had signs up warning you to tell the therapist If you had left the country recently? what would traveling have to do with radiation? I will have to ask tomorrow.
Bippy, party hard tonight, you deserve it!
-
Hi there, maybe some of you can give me some insight on radiation??? I have an appointment in the morning with a radiologist. Not sure what I should be asking or anything..........please any advise will help me. Very nervous!!
Thanks.........looks like you all are doing well.
Mary
-
The reason for the travel question is because of Ebola.
-
Mary59G...are they recommending radiation for you? I see you had a mastectomy with one node positive. My diagnosis was similar. Just finished chemo and need to make a decision on radiation. I wasn't sure what to ask either. Once they told me I was in gray area...you start to wonder. My concern was reconstuction, I have a tissue expander and will be going for an implant. The radiologist talked about the whole procedure then told me I was in a gray area.. and it was my choice. Its almost three weeks which is when I should be starting and I still am not decided. I went back again to ask questions and she basically told me that she was not recommending that I needed to have the radiation, but I am still worrying about it. I am curious to know what your RO tells you... Please post!!! I was very nervous as well.
-
Does anyone know how long you have to start radiation after last chemo. I thought they told me 3 weeks...but I am not sure. Still Thinking about radiation..I am one of those in the gray area. What happens if you change your mind to do it and the 3 weeks is up. Also is there anyone out there who had mastectomy and did radiation? Were you told that it was recommending or was it your decision. My three weeks is Thursday and still have not decided. Help!!!!
-
Thinking Positive, I had a mastectomy 12/15 and started rads 1/26. But I'm Stage IV. So pretty black and white for me I guess. I have 28 by script, and then she will see how my skin is holding up before she decides if I need to do the boost. But I don't have much left to boost. I do have a bolus every other day. But my armpit is starting to turn dark red/brown and I have a rash on my chest that is so itchy, like poison ivy itchy! Annoying if anything touches it. I guess a lot of things would play into the decision like your age, reconstruction, work/home life, stage, grade, etc. But they did tell me that if I refused to do it, the window would close and I go on to chemo again. Not sure why, but I was going to do it anyways. Living and doing rads was a pretty easy choice for me. I am more concerned about the heart damage from Adriamycin than going to rads. And yes breathing and coughing is a side effect of heart damage. So meds and a new ECHO every 3 months for life for me. Not too sure if I hate the disease or the side effects more!
-
beachbum..so sorry for what you are going through.. the heart damage was one of the reasons that I opted not to do ACT..I feared that since I have high blood pressure, murmur and a slow leaky valve. Hope everything goes well for you. I just don't understand ro telling me that" I am not recommending that you need to have it, its your choice" . She tells me it was a good surgery, 10mm clear margins.. small tumor, 11mm, Then I had one positive node, 8mm which she said is samll with extracapsular invasion, but 16 others negative, So she does not think I need radiation to the auxilla area, if they were to do radiation she would do only clavical area where no nodes were removed and the breast. I have tissue expander, going for final fill tomorrow and not sure I can take the TE for another 6-8 months, it feels like it is going to explode now.
-
Hi Mary59G,
Understanding that you're nervous, it's part of this crummy disease process.
To answer your question; make a list of questions because it can be overwhelming. Take someone with you if possible.
I researched about the SEs, methods etc and asked direct questions relating to temporary issues (skin, pain, etc) and to long-term or permanent issues like lung and heart damage.
You can see from our board that some ROs are open, honest and good partners, sadly others are not.
It's your body, feel empowered to push back. Use what works for you for skin care, you know your body.
How many treatments? Boosts? What time for the appointments? How can you reach help after hours? Contact numbers? What if you can't come in?
You'll become familiar with the drill pretty quickly.
Good luck my sister, I hope you have little/no SEs! Speed through, you'll be done before you know it.
-
congrats to all who have recently finished!! Happy for you and I'm sending you best wishes for a quick return to good health and happiness!
