I'm still writing names of Insurance company's to my list... So far, I like State Farm, but will check other companies prices when the bills come in! Do any of you bundle in your home-owners also?
I just know I won't ever do Hartford again....
And the Oscars... I liked our major channel, the Red Carpet, but not E! It's like a gab-fest with those girls, all talking at the same time, and trying to outdo the other one!
I thought it was a good show... I liked Neil Parick Harris.... until he came out in his UNDERWEAR! WTH was THAT all about? I mean the Oscars? I had just commented on how classy, and well staged everything was... but then that little twit did THAT for fun? I just didn't get it!
There IS a time and a place for that I guess, but not at the Oscars! They didn't need to do it.... the show was good, I thought.... So then with an hour left, I went to bed. I hadn't seen any of the movies anyway.
Sometimes I think there is no limit, as to what people will do for publicity... like the Kardashians! That whole fam damily is just nuts! I used to watch them when they first started, because they were all funny and beautiful.... but then they all decided to see "what can I do now that will shock the pants off of everyone watching?"
Anything goes anymore... they have no class... and that Kanye with the never-ending scowl on his face... and Kim looking at him like he is her own private savior? They're always looking for SOMEthing else... to top the news.
And I won't even get into Bruce.... people are just plain strange.
We're all normal "here".... !

Don't watch any awards shows. They are so boring to me. Watched the M*A*S*H* movie that started the series. I forgot that Radar was the only original actor brought over to the show from the movie.
-
I mostly watch to see the "stars"..... Ha! And to see what they are wearing....
-
Haven't seen many movies lately. We have two theaters in town here. One was closed down for a while because of various issues, but it re-opened last fall. Have yet to go to a movie there, from what I have heard the price of a ticket is much cheaper than Regal which is at the mall.

Hi ladies- winter has returned to NM with snow here and more coming. I was supposed to go have a play day in Santa Fe today, but opted out of that. Not the time to be on the roads unless you have to. Was meeting a friend there for lunch, and we will try for another time.
I did watch the Oscars and although I love Neil Patrick Harris (he is from NM by the way), I did not think he was as funny last night. I think the underwear thing was really inappropriate. I was glad to see Julianne Moore, Eddie Redmayne, and Patricia Arquette all win awards. Three fav actors and for some of these people, an an Oscar was a long time coming (i.e., Moore). I loved the Lady Gaga Sound of Music performance. She has a great voice and is doing better things since she is being mentored now by Tony Bennett.
I have seen Wild and Boyhood and now must see Still Alice, Birdman, and The Theory of Everything.
Chevy- yes, bundling will save you money but I never put my eggs in one cart for anything until I have been with any insurance company for awhile first. I started with Amica with car insurance and added other things with time as I needed them.
And don't get me started on the Kartrashians.....
-
I agree with you CHEVY, the was no reason for Neil P. Harris to come out in his whitey tiedies.
Good show, I am not a fan of Lady Gaga, but she is successful. Definitely want to see Boyhood. My kinda movie, no action, no guns, just real life
-
Watched "The Help" Saturday night... very good. Will never look at Chocolate pie quite the same! Haha.. I am always years behind seeing movies. Don't watch TV usually unless it's a rehab addict- love her transformations. Have a good day ya'll. Hi Blondie.
-
Boyhood is on DVD now so those of you who like to watch from home should be able to get this. Many of the others are in the theaters. I probably get to the movie theater once a year. I do most of my watching from home as well.

we have liberty mutual for house and cars. 1 claim, years ago. No problems with them.
Wouldn't you k ow it, flying tomorrow and I'm getting a cold! Dang nabit.
Hope to see Wren, I'll pm you
-
Smarty- sorry about the cold and flying. The worst. Dose up on Vitamin C!
-
We had Liberty for years. They dumped us. No claims. Florida was too expensive
-
Smarty, sorry about the cold, bummer. It was Rosey Grier. sure wish my memory was that good about everythinghttps://www.flickr.com/photos/69799427@N00/sets/491625/
He did needlepoint and macrame

Jazzy and HiHo! I know..... And I'm far from being a prude, and I guess he did it because it was in a scene from one of the movies?? But in public.... At the Academy Awards, just stupid.... not funny at all....
Okay, I wrote down Amica and Liberty.... I'll compare rates.... Thanks...
Just working in the closet.... TRYING to organize all the "stuff"..... I'm getting there, but it's just hard to do! Going to donate some sheet sets... I'll ask DD first.... maybe her friend can use them.....
Sun is coming out.... but only 20.... another storm coming in Wednesday..... I just give UP on Spring ever coming!
-
I saw the cheaper theater in my town is showing Taken 3. Have seen the other two movies in the series and I so want to see this one. Recently I started watching re-runs of the History Channel's show, Vikings, and have gotten hooked and hubby got into it too.
-
Chevy- the tighty whities would have been funny on "how I met your mother" but not in that crowd. I read an article about him in Parade magazine this weekend that he was very nervous about hosting the Oscars as "anyone who is anyone in Hollywood" would be there. I think his nervousness showed last night. But also, the show's writers allowed that stint too. Hollywood has gotten a bit trashy.....
I got rid of three bags of linens from a linen closet reorg recently. If no one you know wants them, call your local women's shelter as they give them to women who are leaving the shelter and heading into new apts. A couple weeks ago, I brought three bags of things to my local shelter and they said "we have three women moving out this week who can use these." It felt good to know all three women and their families would have sheets, towels and a comforter to start out with.
-
Recently my sweet baby Princess has discovered that she can see the birds outside if she lays on the pillow that we had for Charcoal. Up til about two weeks ago she wouldn't even go near that pillow. She even has to have a morning sunning session on it.
-
Okay.... I DO know of the Treasure Trunk.... it services homeless women and families.... I had heard it is for battered women...... It isn't far from here either....
They are nice clean sheets! I'll take them there.... thanks.... ! I know they can use them!
Princess sounds so cute Mom2! She is discovering a whole new world!
That's true Jazzy.... Maybe on that show.... but it was soooooooo out of place at the Academy Awards... You are right... the producers, etc. knew what was going on.... It's like anything for publicity.... as the Kardashian's are so famous for... Yes, it's ALL trashy....
Oh wait! Comforters too! I have a FEW! Now I just have to go upstairs, and start piling things up, and DD or DH can help me get them down..... GOOD IDEA!
-
-
I've taken books to the library, they can shelve them, or they have a resale shop. They use those funds for programs or more books
-
Chevy- do you know about the Decluttering thread? I joined it recently with my purging activities. Great way to share and help folks to know where to take things. Sometimes that is half the challenge. I find if I know I can provide it to a place that can really use it (meaning it goes right to people in need vs. getting sold), I can let it go easier.
The shelters always need a lot of things from linens, to the little travel shampoos, etc. I found three comforters I had been dragging around and no longer using and just let them go and happy to do so! Everything still in pretty good shape, just things that changed with time.
-
also- don't forget about your local animal shelters. They need your used towels, sheets, blankets, etc
-
Winter came back. From Cloudcroft, NM.

-
Our local YMCA has a donor box of children's books that kids can borrow from. When they are finished they bring them back and get another. Some communities have these little lending libraries made on their streets! Give a book and take a book.Too cute. We don't here. Also head start will take gently used kids books and give them away, as will the Crisis Center for Women. Homeless shelters have lending libraries that their clients can take a book from. I think it's very hard to get a library card without a permanent address. Can you imagine how nice it would be to read a book and have something constructive to do with your time, just lose yourself in a good story.
The rains come back on Thursday.. my oh my I have so enjoyed this lovely warm 60 degree weather... brilliant sun and warm.
