Brows and Lashes

if you lost yours during chemo, will you share your treatment and at what point you lost them? I will start my second cycle of neoadjuvant TCHP tomorrow. It will not be the end of the world if I lose mine. I am curious and want an idea, however.

I had TCH (Perjeta was not yet approved) and never lost all brows and lashes. My brows thinned but I did not have to draw them, just darken them. I lost all bottom lashes by the mid-point of six rounds, but still had half a dozen upper lashes. My lashes did not cycle, I only lost them once. I also lost my hair late, not until day 24 so I still had a full head of hair until two days after the second treatment, and did not go shiny bald, I still had sparse tufts of hair that never fell out. Good luck!

Thanks SpecialK. I hope to retain some brows and lashes! Not looking forward to learning the art of adding them, even on ocassion.

sugarcakes - I used heavier black eyeliner, didn't wear false lashes. I used this for brows, but went a shade darker than I would have with fuller brows:

I was using the brow gel prior to chemo, but since then have also used this product as it has fibers, since my brows grew back in more blonde:

If you lose the brows completely, I would recommend these:

I didn't lose either brows or lashes until Taxol. Hair on something like Day 20 of AC. Got my head buzzed as things started to go south. Made it all so much neater. I second Special K on just using different liner and brow shaper. I went with a softer eyebrow pencil than normal, and liquid liner.
On the other end, I am much better with eye makeup in general. Brows are slightly thinner, but shape up just fine. I never lost them a second time, so all was fine once they started growing back in. It took about one week from seeing a bit of color to full brows/lashes. (Plus a need for a serious shaping.) - Claire

I was on Taxol for 12 weeks and Herceptin. I gradually lost my half of my eyelashes during the last 6 weeks and then lost the majority of my eyelashes 6 weeks post treatment. I kept half of my eyebrows. Eyebrows are not difficult to recreate with pencil but eyelashes are a different story. BTW, I am only just sprouting hair on my head 6 weeks post Taxol

I finished 6 rounds of TCHP in December. I never lost all of my brows or lashes, or even all of my hair for that matter (but nearly all of it). My brows thinned significantly, as have my lashes (top and bottom). My brows are now growing back in, but I can't tell if I have new lashes yet or not. Another few days and it should be more obvious if what I think might be new lashes are, in fact, new lashes. The brows and lashes didn't start thinning right away, and I can't remember now when I started noticing it. My hair started around day 18 or so of my first cycle, but I didn't buzz it until about 5 days after my second infusion. I still had a lot at that point - at least half, if not more. But I started with really thick hair, so the loss wasn't as noticeable (except to me, of course).

Thanks Ladies! This is all such good information. I'm going to check out those products, SpecialK

The American Cancer Society offers Look Good Feel Better for free. You can call them and register for the class, and get the free make up kit. Very welcome to receive such nice make up, and they teach you how to do eyebrows and apply all of the products. Most cancer clinics will have the info also. I went and have a great time, free from cancer for two hours and met a lot of nice Ladies!

I'll attend a Look Good, Feel Better session on Monday, March 2,one week after my second infusion. Looking forward to it.
