    can I have a PET scan followed on the same day by MRI? Any risks

    Hi patty2015,

    I had an MRI first and then a PET scan on the same day which is the opposite of yours. The PET scan will involve an injection of some sugary liquid that will light up in the troubled areas. I don't know if this will impact the MRI results after. You might want to call the center that you are having these performed and ask the radiologist if there is a problem with doing these procedures in this order. I wish you the best of luck.

    I had my CAT and MRI the same day. Bone scan was another day and PET was still another day. The day after PET, I had a biopsy on an area along my jaw that 'lit up' on PET (nothing there).
