INSOMNIACS place to talk in the wee hours

no, 19 is still screwed. From about Palm Harbor to St Pete
-
uh huh, SEE HOW SHE IS?????????!??

-
Spookie, How is it that the oldest road has 8 lanes and the newer roads wee all less with some having to add lanes. US1 is a mess. it was built with only 2 lanes each way. Now they are trying to makes it 3 lanes all the way. Some corridors weren't planned for that. If they do it in Titusville --it'd be wiped out.
Jazzy sounds like a nice day. All you music afficiando's finding each other is so nice. So hope you don't have the fire's this summer, but know what you mean about being familiar with patterns. Doesn't bode well for water aquifers and melt?
-
Sas, I've done Us1, and A1A. They absolutely DO NOT compare to here. Maybe around Lauderdale, Miami it's bad. Haven't been there in years.
Next time you're at Moffitt you come over the bay to here. I'll meet you at the Clearwater end and I will drive. For lunch and gab
-
As for why now trying to improve roads, nobody truely foresaw the impact screens, air conditioning, and the Mouse would have on this state.
-
Uh oh..... you see that girls? They are hollering about their roads and traffic.... They are getting into a tiff.... we have to calm those two down..... THEY think THEIR roads are bad!
Try driving on week-ends, on I-70 with 5,000 old people on there, not knowing WTH they are doing! Not to mention all the recent foot deep pot holes, and in the middle of the blizzard. Are we supposed to feel sorry for them now?
And what is she talking about with the "Mouse?" She don't even have weed yet, and she talks like she does.

JUST 5000 people? Bah!!!!!
Walt Disney screwed this state big time
-
Oh now here we go.... Now it's Walt's fault! So you mean Florida is not only for Senior's, it's also for kids? Who would have thunk?
She said "screwed"..... can we do that here? I won't tell if y'all won't. Ha!
So have you ever been to Disney World? Oh now don't tell me yes, and then complain about how you didn't like it.....
We have been there so many times since Sheri moved there... We get in free, because her Next Door neighbor worked there.... and we USED to ride the rides! I LOVED it there! And everyone was so happy~! The parking was a hassle, but I'm glad I wasn't driving....
So now what were you saying?

Oh you traffic people! Seattle's answer to gridlock is to remove car lanes and add bike lanes. And to reduce the speed limit to 25 on the arterial. They are removing parking spaces everywhere they can think of, especially downtown and in the hospital districts. I think it's a psychological experiment to see if people will go crazy when their commute time doubles again. There is good bus service to downtown. For those who want to go anywhere else, not so good. At least one transfer and an hour. Doesn't matter where you want to go. I can still do this, but lots of seniors can't. Looking for somewhere else to live, preferably between here and Oregon.
-
Spookie, not in cars. I meant why did they do such a poor job in the amount of lanes. Doing 8 lanes for 19 is a huge prethought out thing. How could they not use the same thinking over her -
You mean I'm in Nirvanha. No gridlock. Wonderful weather except for hurricanes. SUNSUNSUNSUN. Rockets go off with hopes they don't flare. Walt , Harry, and Namu a short ride away. I had to open the doors to warm up
-
Wren, same problems here in Portland, except we don't have your lakes, etc., to totally screw things up, just rivers, canyons and hills with no room for roads. If ever a city needed a decent underground system, Seattle would be it. Portland would be a contender except I know it would be so poorly thought out that there would be little point.
(ps here they euphemistically refer to said changes as 'road diets') -
yes, I hav been to all the theme parks. They were ok. Waaaaay to expensive now, over $100 per person for non residents. Even with discount, too expensive. Not all of us can get in free.
They just added the 4th lane a few years ago. We have a lousy bus system, our "wonderful" gov. turned down the $$$$ for light rail. Gov REALLY dislikes the pres.

Sheri lives right by Universal..... I mean like 10 minutes away, in the Dr. Philips area.... On the Golf Course...... We can see the back of the Harry Potter wall from their house.... But it is a beautiful area... They have so many gated communities in that part of Orlando....
Fireworks go off every night! Have you been to City Walk? I like to just walk around there, and shop and eat!
Florida is just so CLEAN and "open"..... Even the area's surrounding the highways.... Everything is kept nice there.... at least the areas we have seen.... The buildings are all painted nicely, and a lot of greenery around the shopping centers.... Maybe it's because everything dies here in the Winter.... everything is brown and dirty....
-
This is the Poster Picture Sheri made for Janie for her Birthday! It is a surprise, because she is paying for them to go to San Francisco in September to see their favorite band!
I helped wait to buy the tickets online, as soon as the tickets went on sale.... SUCH a PITA, but I finally got through my place "in line" and signed her in, changed her credit card date, TRIED to de-cipher that code-in-a-box they show you, and FINALLY it said "CONGRATULATIONS SHERI, YOU ARE GOING TO AC/DC!
She was playing Realtor, and couldn't do it, and showing a house.... so I helped her out.... ! I'm so happy I could DO it!
So she will have her "tickets" all printed out, a new T-shirt, plus the picture, and spending money for her Sister.... I just want to be there when she opens that box!
Youngest GS is also going.... Tickets very good in the "red section" Right beside "home-plate"...... the grey seats in front are standing room only...
I would pass out if I ever had to do that again.... I hope it all goes through!

-
chevy it's all do to walt. Orlando was nothing till he came with his vision. all after was b/c of him

-
Arrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! The white crap is falling again! Saying 3-6 total before its over! Why it stop? The only bright side of this is they are forecasting for 20s and 30s most of the week!
-
Yes Mom2.... It is here too! And supposed to get VERY cold they say!
Now Sass! What could it possibly BE that holds my "favorite".... What is my favorite? You mean chocolate cokes? That goat-cheese cheese from Costco that I make a snack out of, with chips? Or is it that Irish Butter? Or the trail-mix I make? Or a White Russian? Maybe it is some kind of container for a "treat" like this?

Hopeful, Portland is difficult because of all the bridges. Get on the wrong one and you'll never get where you're going. I'm sure you've heard of our underground tunnel project that is only 2 years behind schedule. The tunneling machine broke and now they're trying to fix it. It's sort of funny because there's a tunnel for the railroad that was built by hand by men with shovels and pick axes.
-
You know, I HAD a picture of a beautiful BED, but I didn't think I should post THAT....Hah! You did it anyway! Great minds think alike!
We are having a TERRIBLE blizzard right now.... Can hardly see across the street! Wind blowing snow from EVERYwhere! They SAID this would happen..... I'm just glad we are home safe.... DD left work early, and is having a hard time getting home.....
-
Chevy oh hope she does okay---hate snow driving. Can't conceive of ever attempting it again. yes great minds.......go right to the gutter. I never can keep a secret. It's smoke grey. Lots available on the internet. Usually snapped up pretty quick in thrifts.
-
Ah Hah! I just "knew" it! I've never seen one of those!
The car right in front of her got broad-sided! She called when she got to her parking lot, and was still shaking! Thank GOD I didn't know about it at the time! She said the streets are skating rinks.... It just came in sooooooo fast and hard! xoxoxo
