hi all

I hope this is in the right place. I have been refered to the breast clinic. First appointment is monday coming. I have terrible tenderness in my left breast that goes from collar bone down the side, with a heavyness feeling in shoulder. I also keep getting like a stabbing pain in top left of breast that comes and goes. My breast has also shrunk'shrunk' and my nipple has become all 'tight' (if that makes sense) im only 37 so understand that it ia probably nothing, but not told anyone and feeling worried and alone :-(

I am in the same boat as you are. My appointment at the breast center is Tuesday and I have only told my husband. I have a very large indentation, a large mass, and blood from one duct. I also have an extremely strong family history of breast cancer. All I can say is at least our appointments are coming soon!! My first appointment for symptoms was 6 weeks ago, and it's a long time to dwell on things. Best of luck at your appointment!

    Hi Ladies and welcome!!

Can't give you any specifics but it's important to know that there are so very many things that can happen to our breasts that have nothing to do with cancer, so hang on to that.

Nbeck, at the time of your first appointment 6 weeks ago, did they do any imagining? (Mammo, ultrasound?)

    (edited)

Nbeck, I see you are have just recently stopped breast feeding. That definitely can do all sorts of things to one's breasts.

Both of you ladies are wise to have your symptoms checked out, but please don't panic. It's hard, we know, but there really are many things than can account for your symptoms that have nothing to do with cancer. Honest.

(((HUGS))))) and stay away from "Dr Google". He is not a doctor. Not by a long shot

I had mammo and ultrasound but it was very hard for them to see much due to I was still breastfeeding a time or two a day... (milk in the way, swollen ducts in general, and I also have very dense breasts) I was seen at a small town hospital and the radiologist basically said she was not comfortable that she could see enough and I have been referred to the breast center, and quit breastfeeding in preperation. Holding out hope that the large mass is just a reaaally mad duct leftover from breastfeeding, though when I voiced this to my family Dr. last week he thought it was highly doubtful since it wasn't painful and everything else was good and dried up. I rode the roller coaster ride of breast cancer every step of the way with my mom, and I know there are many other things that can cause breast issues, and am hoping for the best!! At the same time I'm not scared of finding out whatever the outcome. Watched my mom battle through stage 3 IBC, brain mets, spine mets, and take her last breath, and she remained brave and strong till the end! Unfortunately my moms mother was also just given 6 weeks or less, one of my mom's cousins passed at 26 from breast cancer, and another was diagnosed at 32.... along with a couple of (great) (great great) grandmas.

    Bumbleina and Nbeck-

We want to welcome you both to our community here at BCO. We're so sorry for the worry that brings you here, but we're so very glad you've joined our community, and hope you both find it to be a place of support and encouragement.

We know how hard the wait is, and how scary it can be. Just keep in mind, many of the breast changes you've both described can be caused by any number of things, and are not necessarily indicative of cancer. The odds are in your favor, as most of these issues turn out to be benign. Try to stay positive!

Please keep us all posted after your appointments, we'll be thinking of you both!
