Nurse Shark...you were right - they pulled 2 and 4. One was slightly painful, the other painless.

Have to wait until next Friday for the others.

Hope you and baby had better day today. :)

Thank you all for the welcomes. I just got my date 2/18, so I missed a lot earlier in the month.

Good for you, LisaZak!!! You will have a great weekend :)

My sisters just told me they ordered PinkPockets for my drains. I sure hope they come in a different color. Not too fond of pink...lol

So I hate my drain(as we all do) and threatened to pull it myself...not meaning it. Well I woke up this am and had pulled it out so far that it wouldn't drain. I had to clean it and stuff it back in(per doctor's orders). It started working but I got to tape it till Monday and hope it doesn't happen again...so ready to have it out...then I get a call that my liver enzymes are elevated...hope it is OK next time....what a day

Jennifer, you made me smile, thanks. Mr Pratt and I are still doing the co-dependent dance. It looks like he is sticking around for a bit. At least he is behaving today. No more blockages. I see my BS a week from Tuesday and hope Mr P gets detached before then. My appointment with the Rads Doc is the following Thursday. Good news...I did the exercises tonight and already have full range of motion. Amazing work by my surgeon guided by Jesus hands. Love, Jean

Hi Melanie. I am 3 days post op. I am taking zofran with the narcos to keep me from getting sick which works beautifully. The pain is very bearable I just have a very difficult time getting up from a sitting position. I am not allowed to shower as long as I have drains in. Still not pooping yet. I took laxative last night but hasn't helped yet.

Hi Faith, Its good to hear from you. ugh, the getting up and down hurts. I found putting a chair on the better side, if no one was available to help me made it bearable. I also kept a chair by the toilet. Also sitting back as far as possible before getting in the recliner or bed helps. Pulling on my son and husband's belt loop helped too but they weren't fans.

I really had a hard time as you can see.I just had my exchange and Im right back where I was so I have chairs everywhere.

I hope you make a speedy recovery. :D

Jackson Pratts are still hanging on tight and so is the poopless issue. I am really hoping that my bowels will move soon because I am starting to feel nauseated. It feels like everything is starting to back up in there. I think it's a combination of the pain medication and the lack of exercise. Not fun!

Hi faithhopecourage. I'm so glad to hear that your recovery is going well. Not being able to get up on your own is certainly a challenge though. If you are anything like me, it's not easy to have to depend on other people. We just have to accept that this is a time to let others take care of us

oh dear! Shoving your drain back in doesn't sound very pleasant! Poor girl!

I don't remember having my liver enzymes tested. What is that for?

melanie, it wasn't much fun but way better than leaking 100cc/day. My drain sites hurt all the time. I'm hoping I'll get them out Monday.

I'm sure you had your liver enzymes tested if you've done chemo. They just don't tell you if all's well. Chemo drugs ( or any drugs) can cause liver damage which is first detected as elevated enzymes. However, it doesn't mean you have liver damage. They just check it out if they are elevated to rule out damage. Just another thing to worry about. I'm sure that it will fine though.

Fbrodya: 2/26 First time out. Unilateral mastectomy for <1 cm Invasive Lobular Carcinoma. Very worried because ILC has a tendency not to show up well in imaging. So, even though my MRI, Mammos, ultrasounds, CTs and Xrays were all clean beyond the spiculated mass, they won't know what's in there till they're in there.

Welcome Fbrodya. I was just diagnosed with IDC. I had an excisional biopsy after core needles came back benign. BS said she got the whole tumor out. MRI showed no other tumors. I have to have a bilateral mastectomy to be scheduled in the next few weeks. Meeting with BS and PS tue and wed. Did you have excisional biopsies?

You will get great support here. The women on this site are wonderful warriors. Good luck with your surgery. Are you getting reconstruction?

Hi everyone. I've heard about having a recliner to recover in. Does it really make a difference? I just can't see myself getting in and out of bed (it's high) plus robs up and down all night and has a habit of plopping onto the bed to get in.

    Thanks.

Audrey...someone on here recommended a wedge, which I bought on Amazon. Worked great. Had a foot stool beside bed. Didn't need to use the recliner.

    Hugs!

AudreyB I highly recommend a recliner. I ended up being able to sleep in my bed after surgery with a lot of pillows propped up, but I spend most of the day in the recliner. It is perfect for naps and I know that if the bed had not been comfortable I could completely have slept in the recliner. If you are able to get one

i slept and still sleep in my recliner. It is wonderful. I bought it just for recovery. It keeps me from turning over and lets me get a good night sleep. I tried to lay on my bed at a few days out, and it about killed me.. I think of you get one you will like it. hugs amy

    Thanks Jilly59 and MelanieC.

Jilly59, we have same diagnosis. I am struggling with reconstruction decision. Where you able to have skin saving mastectomy in order to get immediate implants? My apt with BS is Tuesday but I'm angst ridden.

Hi all, the JP jokes have been cracking me up!

Despite my drain coming out yesterday, I've had discomfort today. I'm trying to manage the switch from prescription anti inflammatories to a combo of Tylenol and Advil or Aleve and I haven't been able to stay ahead of it at all. Feeling pulling and strain across my upper breast and into my armpit more or less all day today. The stretching usually helps, but less so today.

I don't have a recliner but it's probably a good idea. I sleep in bed with pillows. It's been fine getting in and out, but my back is killing me by morning. I'm usually a side sleeper.

I did get some great couch time with my daughters today. Harry Potter marathon!

Love Harry Potter! Especially while cuddling little ones! Good for you JustAJennifer.

Narcotics are doing a great job of controlling post surgery and TE pain, but they are causing serious constipation. I haven't pooped since Tuesday and it's starting to feel yucky! I've been taking stool softeners and finally a laxative today, but still no luck! Any suggestions? I can't eat anymore without feeling sick to my stomach

still sleeping in recliner can't get comfy in bed. I found dried apricots help with constipation I've weaned down to oxycodone 2x a day...but felt pretty sore today. I can't feel my foobs it's strange.. My nipples are looking a little less scary ...putting bacitracin and gauze seem to help...

Still cry daily. I have all the help I need ......but cry bc I want so badly to do it myself

OK, I'll share. After my biopsy surgery under general, I didn't go for about 5 days. I actually had to start praying to God, literally sitting on the bowl saying "please God". It wasn't fun but it worked. LOL. I think giving birth to my daughter was easier. Good luck to all. It is one of the worst post surgery side effects. Didn't someone mention mud a few weeks ago, a combo of milk of magnesia and prune juice? Oh the joy.

Melanie-c, try drinking some prune juice mixed with Apple juice 50/50 warmed in the microwave. It's successful most of the time

Nurseshark, I can't get comfy at all! I understand you want to do it yourself!!!! It was very difficult to allow others to do for me, once I did I began to feel strength and love healing me! Just that quickly!!! I hadn't asked anyone to help, me at all! Shame on me for having pride! I would also have robbed the people who love me a chance to show me! Give yourself the gift of surrender!!! You deserve it!!!!! The Lord is so faithful to take me where I didn't want to go. God is good!!!

I was in the OR total of 6hours.

I have trapped gas really bad also! I took simethcone which is moving it. I am belching when I stand up! They said from the meds.

    Love Robin
