Best secrets for cold / flu prevention???
Hey Ladies----desparately need your help! Am once again on my hands and knees sick with the flu (the 4th time in 3 months!!!) Really trying to do everything right to prevent: am a bit annal about germs so stay away from sick people, wash hands obsessively several times a day, try not to touch door handles etc. Have a central humidifier in my house, plus sleep with a humidifier beside my bed
Supplement-wise: take a lot of "greens", whey protein (for immune system), zinc at flu onset(learned the hard way that it is a laxative ), ; eat chicken, fish and a small amount of meat (2/month) otherwise lot's of vegetables and grains; very little dairy
Had the flu shot
Make sure I get a good nights sleep, exercise regularly (can cardio exercise make me more sensitive to the flu???)
So what am I missing??? Any other suggestions grealy welcomed----while nothing compared to chem (LOL), 4 bouts of the flu in 3 months is really wearing me out

Just some random thoughts: Exercise should be good for you. I try to eat lots & lots of citrus fruit. Do you regularly clean out the humidifier? Have you tossed out your toothbrush? That is something I always do if I've been sick. Of course, keep your hands away from your face. I don't use hand sanitizer except as a last resort, and usually wash my hands with Dove instead of an anti-bacterial as they can actually make you less resistant to germs if overused.

At the first sign of a sniffle, or any other sign of illness, I start taking Colostrum by Pure Encapsulations. My chiropractor first told me about it. I have not had a cold or any upper resp in 4 years, and I used to pick up something every year. I also take a couple of doses before getting on a plane, cuz there are so many germs trapped in there. You may also consider wearing a face mask, covering your nose and mouth.
Sorry you have been sick so many times. NO fun at all.

I started keeping hand sanitizer in my bag and in the car, right before my surgery and have continued to use it every time I get back in the car after shopping etc. I also take Olive Leaf every day and double the dose, if I feel like I may be coming down with something, but fortunately, nothing, since I started doing this.

Hylands Complete Flu Care homeopathic treatment at the first signs of flu. I used it a couple years ago when diagnosed with the flu. It seemed to help symptoms and shorten recovery time.

sorry to hear you have not been feeling well . I wonder about getting flu shots , not sure if they are helpful or harmful truthfully . I have been using essential oils (young living) to stay healthy . In fact I became a consultant because I have such faith in thier healing and prevention properties . Thieves on the bottom of my feet at night , diffused while I sleep . I put lemon oil in my water and use Frankincense to boost my immunity .

Propolis supplement. It is concentrated bee pollen. I bought it in the gel caps, but he took it as a liquid which from what I understand is an "aquired" taste!
I had a co worker who took it all the time and never got the flu. I got the flu and he said to take it, it would reduce the symptoms and shorten the time you are sick. I took it and immediately started feeling better. That was two years ago. Last year I took it throughout flu season and never got sick. No flu shot. I was going to get one this year, but took the propolis instead.

Wow, that is a lot of flu! I'm wondering if you've had your house checked for mold? Where are you in your cancer tx? I know chemo can knock out your immune system for awhile. Have you had your vit D level checked? There is some speculation that the reason we don't get the flu in the summertime is b/c our vit D levels might be higher then. Elderberry and flower is a good immune booster too--esp for colds and flu
