Morning Prayer

To me the best time of the day is early morning,
when all is fresh and new. Yesterday is in the past
and I have a brand new day to experience.
I enjoy just sitting, browsing and talking to the Lord,
and this time of the day belongs only to Him.

Another season will soon begin
Fall is in the air once again
Rosy apples and pumpkins bright
And songbirds taking flight.

There was a nip in the wind today
The blackbirds are on their way
Soon beauty will abound
As fall flowers bloom all around.

As summer takes her leave
Colorful trees will soon appear
September holding a promise
A new season is near.

The beauty God gives is a treasure
Something man cannot measure
Take a look around everywhere
Once again fall is in the air.

I’ve drawn aside from the busy,
hustling, bustling freeway of life.
Far away I’ve run from the constant
pulling and tugging of daily strife.
I’ve now entered my private hiding place,
where only my mind can abide

into the serenity of the glen.
There to pause where a gentle river flows,
reflecting on Him again.

Draw aside now, my precious one,
from worldly woes and pause with me
in the place where the absence of worry
ushers in peace and placidity.
Hear the mysteriously soft and gentle call
of God’s glorious creation,
then relinquish your heart and sing to Him
anthems of reverent adoration.
