Ivf and breast cancer
I am wondering how many have undergone Ivf prior to their breast cancer diagnosis? I previously had 8 cycles of Ivf from 2007 to Dec 2010. Within 2 years of deciding to finish Ivf , after a few miscarriages, I was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. I underwent Surgery, chemo and radiation and had a great prognosis. A year later I was told it was back but now stage 4 and spread to the lung, liver and bones. The general consensus from all my specialists was that the IVF was the cause, no family history. I get the impression from my new oncologist that they are tired of seeing IVF patients developing breast cancer and they are positive that IVF is linked with Breast cancer. It's seems so unfair that all I received from IVF was miscarriages and Stage 4 breast cancer . I have the best husband and we have been married 8 years so life sucks as I lost my parents in this time and just as we accepted being childless and was getting on with our lives we were dealt this awful blow. Really makes you wonder. I urge people to seriously lok at the risks of Ivf. I wish I never went down that track, so many promises from the ivf doctors yet no warnings.

I'm so sorry all this has happened to you. I saw this recent study.
The studies indicate that that IVF is not a risk factor, or not a significant one:

Just replied about this on another thread. I went through 3 rounds of treatment in order to donate eggs to somebody and then 2 years approx later was diagnosed with breast cancer however it was not hormonal it was HER2+ so wondering whether it's not related because it wasn't hormonal breast cancer. Any thoughts?

HI there, I too had ~6 cycles IVF with Donor eggs I received from a donor, several misscarriages late, one lovely child is now a wonderful part of my life. I thank god every day for strong women who help to make the lives of other women whole through egg donation. Amy- you gave a wonderful gift. Every mother's day I write a letter to my donor as without her, my life would never be the same. Praying you have good results with your treatment. What a difference in a life you made through your selfless gift of life!
I was diagnosed about 2 years after all this. My donor does not have BC and no signs of it. I will share that the input I received from my oncologist , breast surgeon and the fertility clinic as well was that the fertility treatments did not contribute to my BC diagnosis and they were unrelated. They just do not show a causal link between the two as I was told.

Hello, I would like to get more replies on this is possible. I am thinking about doing a IVF round, but my mother has MBC and wondering if it can be not recommended with a family history of breast cancer.
Thank you very much

I was an egg donor for a friend, which meant injecting myself with hormones daily. Within a year or two, I developed a benign mass in my left breast. Now, 10 years later, I am awaiting mammograms and ultrasound for a 3x2cm mass again in my left breast and several lumps in my right breast. I also wondered whether there was a connection.

I did 2 cycles of IVF 16 years before my breast cancer diagnosis, No pregnancy but adoped 2 sons at birth an couldn't be happier or more fulfilled. Unfortunately, diagnosd with lung cancer 4 years after my BC diagnosis. Also early stage and theoretically was cured after removal of a lobe of my lung. That was a little over a year ago. Time will tell.....

I did two rounds of IUIs followed by IVF. Diagnosed 12 yearrs later. I do have an aunt with BC though.

I personally have not encountered this, but my friend went through IVF at vittoriavita few years ago
It didn't work right away, she went through 3 cycles and then they decided on surrogacy. Her daughter is already 4 years old and both are feeling great
