New primary lung cancer and not lung mets?

Options

Hi everyone. My name is Erin and I am 35 and finished treatment for triple negative breast cancer last June. I had a 6 cm tumor with no lymph node involvement. Started on chemotherapy first as I participated in in a trial and had Taxol and AC. Then a lumpectomy and radiation. A CT scan showed an 8 mm nodule that has now after almost a year grown to 1.6 cm. I have a PET/CT scan scheduled for Monday at 11:30. I am so unbelievably terrified right now and hoping that if it is cancer, it is just plain old primary lung cancer. Is that even possible? I do have a history of smoking when I was in my early 20s.

Hi Gilmel01, sorry to hear that you're going through this worrying and stressful time. Was the CT scan before you started chemo? Were they just monitoring it over the year to see if it grew or not? Anyway, let's hope it's not cancer. I do know a few people who've had lung cancer at a similar age to you and they were smokers as well so it is possible. I hope you get some answers next week after your scan. Thinking of you for next week.
